'CARDIFF SET TO NET WANYAMA'

Sun Jun 30, 2013 6:32 pm

Celtic are expecting fresh talks with Cardiff City over a deal to sell Victor Wanyama.

The Premier League new boys have already seen a £10million offer rejected by Hoops chiefs.

But SunSport understands the SPL champions are now preparing to do business with the Welsh outfit and cash in on the want-away Kenyan.

The saga moved forward on Friday when Cardiff informally agreed to meet the financial demands of the midfielder and his agents.

Southampton previously tabled a £12m bid which was accepted by Parkhead powerbrokers — only for Wanyama to flatly reject a move to St Mary’s.

Celts will NOT get that same fee from Cardiff.

But with talks set for early this week, a deal looks likely to be done.

Raking in a eight-figure sum will represent superb business for Celts, who paid just £900,000 to sign Wanyama two years ago.

Neil Lennon has been in no hurry to lose the powerful 22-year-old as he plans for another assault on the Champions League.

He takes his squad on a pre-season training camp to Germany tomorrow without Wanyama, who’s been given extra time off.

But Lennon hopes any transfer fee will help him to push through other deals he is working on.

Won't link to The Sun, and not too sure how reliable the report may be, but thought it may be of interest for some keeping an eye on the Wanyama deal.
