A forum for all things Cardiff City

Just had a quic look at the palace forum, they all are wetting the pants over the singning of Gayle. From what i seen of him at their ground he wasnt up to much and just dived which will wont go down well in the prem. His goal tally was 13 in 29 games which i think is quite poor, campbell would of got 20 easy if he had player 29 games. The fee is said to be just over 2mil, has any1 else got an opinion on gayle?

Think Gayle is perfectly suited to the Premiership as he's a diving little shitbag.
This will be unfortunately something we'll need to get used to each week.
Touch me (or sometimes don't even touch me) and I'll go down.

A gamble in my opinion.

13 in 29 in a relegated team just cant see it, he struggled against us which is why he constanty dived in my opinion

we live in a sad world when people are claiming 13 in 29 is poor

The guy ran us ragged down at the CCS. A gamble maybe, but could easily be the michu of the new season

He was 12th top scorer in the championship, top was glen murray with 29 and jordan rhodes with 28. So you think 13 is a good return?

Barry Fry said hes the best player hes ever had and hes had some players.
He must have signed about 100 different players for Brum.

how many games did rhodes and murray play. Come to that, how many of those goals are penalties?
i dont think hes a premier league quality player, but 13 goals in 29 games is a million miles away from poor, only Campbell (7 in 14?) was anywhere near that for us. I mean its almost 1 in 2 in a struggling team for gods sake!!

Agree - he gave us a torrid time and if he gets a couple of early goals as confidence builders, he could be an absolute gem.

Rhodes is a different class to gayle!

Exactly, and blackburn were a struggling team as well. Charlie austin is another example 25 goals in 37 games, nearly double of gayle with just 8 games more. If you think gayle is gonna cut it in the prem then you need your head tested.

who said he would?
13 goals in 29 games is still good

Gayle £2m =Gamble.
What the f**k does A-Corn mean for us then?
£7.5m..
No British based experience.
Gayle Tore us a new arsehole when we played them.
For a team losing a Talent like Zaha, that's a pretty good acquisition.
Fri Jun 28, 2013 10:29 am
Well we I thought had a good defense when the Posh played us , but Gayl had them, running around all over the place
And he was running around them. WE LOST !
Fri Jun 28, 2013 10:30 am
Maybe in the prem yeah but not in a long championship season with some poor sides

Comparing championship records is all well and good but it dont mean shit.
Le Fondres premiership ratio was better than his championship ratio for Reading.

Cornelius is a rising star that is the reason top teams like arsenal and everton wer looking at him. Who the f**k scouted gayle besides palace lol
Cornelius tormented the czech republic when he scored for denmark according to online comments from the danes. Gayle cudnt torment the barnsley defence
Fri Jun 28, 2013 10:38 am
13/29 is good but if he's the dogs bollocks @ 2mill then what have we just signed @ 8.I think you need to look @ palarses budget.2 or 3m here and there ain't going to keep them in the prem.

What experience on these shores does A-Corn have? None.
All he has is Potential.
Which is the same as Gayle....
If they're both successful, them that's potential fulfilled.

Yes but Cornelius's potential is much greater than that of Gayle, thats why he has been followed by top teams in europe. He is also a danish international who has scored for his country against a gd team in the czech republic. Do not forget this guy is just 20 yrs old as well!

Exactly,If we were signing the like of Gayle I'd be readying myself for championship football next season.I mean at the price we paid for Cornelius we could have had Rhodes as well and so could have palace except that he's way out of their budget.

Palarse player and hollowhead type player. Gen Murray will be happy as Gayle will help provide penalties to bump up his goal tally.
Perfect fit for that club.

Murray is out for a while though, definatly will not make start of the season.

The boy looks decent, although it's a gamble for PL side.
Posh signed him on loan from Dagenham, then made it a full time move for £500k so well done to them for making a few bob out of it as well.
62 goals in 104 games isn't a bad career return for a lad of 22 years old.
Fri Jun 28, 2013 1:04 pm
Gayle was a real thorn in our side at CCS and looked the part, Posh were worthy winners at our place, but we had an off day and they were obviously far better than an average P'boro side.
We saw a different side to him at London road, regularly looking to win free kicks, some would say cheating.
Is he worth a small gamble in Prem with Palace? Possibly, but I think if they are pinning their hopes on him getting the goals to keep them up, they have virtually no chance.
Cornelius on the other hand, even though he has no English football experience, I don't consider the same type of risk. Yes, it's a lot more money and we will expect goals at times, but with hopefully Maynard & Campbell fit and maybe Ince added we will be far better equipped than Palace to take the pressure off our new striker.
Not forgetting offcourse, Bellamy, Whitts, Gunner, Kimbo etc

oh and Rudy
