Cardiff City willing to make Ince their top earner

The Mirror: Cardiff are ready to make Thomas Ince their best-paid player.

The Premier League new boys are preparing an £8million swoop on Blackpool for Ince.

And the England Under-21 cap is in talks with the Welsh club after they became the only side to meet the Seasiders' valuation.

Cardiff’s owners are backing Malky Mackay by pushing the boat out for the former Liverpool winger - son of Blackpool manager and former England captain Paul Ince - in a bid to make him sign.

It is still not guaranteed that Ince will move to Wales as he was hoping a ‘bigger’ club would come in for him.

But neither Tottenham nor his old club Liverpool, who have both expressed interest, will pay the fee are demanding, which includes an up-front figure plus add-ons.

Ince can now either sign the contract with the Bluebirds – or take his chances that one of the big guns will come in for him later in the summer

He'll be our top earner for about 5mins if we're successful with some of our other targets.

What is it that our club sees, that Spurs and Liverpool don't, that is worth £8m?

Liverpool wanted him back in January but would not meet the asking price then. I honestly believe that we are paying more than we know he is worth to try and scare Liverpool and Spurs off so he has no choice but to join City as he risks being left behind in the Championship otherwise.

if he comes to City at lest he would be motivated as he would be playing against the teams he would like to take him on at some point.

The lad clearly wants a move to a bigger club than us, and to be quite honest, if that's his attitude, he can do one.

Does the lad want to sit on someones bench earning a shitload, or playing regularly and earning a little less?

To me, his dithering tells the story and we should move on.

I'd like to think that MM is using the Ince/Wanyama speculation as a diversionary tactic whilst he talks to other players, more in line with what we can afford.

That's my view on it. They are not as good as they think they are. Over rated with big egos.

The Wanyama speculation staggers me. Why would we entertain this average, untested at this level player, and all the grief that comes with him and his agent. MM spent a great deal of time getting rid of all the egos from the DJ team he inherited, to get this bloke in?

Dr Blue Blackpool quoted £16million to liverpool back in January hence they walked away

I think Malky plays the media a little better than they give him credit for. Last season we "missed" all our targets and ended up with players the ITK crowd never heard of............ This looks like Malkys M.O. :malky: :malky:

Are u sure it was 16m?? I seem to remember 10m incl add ins being mooted, 16m sounds a lot. If 16m is the case no wonder clubs go abroad for cheaper players , Tom ince is a 5m player at best

I don't think it has anything to do with Rogers not rating Carroll, more to do with Carroll not fitting in with Rogers' style of play. But, Ince does fit into Rogers' style, and despite having the chance to sign him way cheaper than we have offered, he's passed up.

£5m is a drop in the ocean to a club like Liverpool, so Ince would have to be worth the risk at that price, no?

Just read someone blogging on a Blackpool site that reckons we've offered him 40k p/w :o

Andy Carroll is a poor example, what about Forlan and Pique at Man Utd, every manager has players he can't get the best out of and maybe Rogers sees Ince as one of these whereas Malky doesn't. An even better example is Falcao, who Aston Villa apparently turned down for £7 million yet Porto took up the option yet which team is better ? If we waited for other teams to seriously consider our targets especially ones like Liverpool, then there would be a lot lower chance of signing them.
