He's now odds on 5/6 to join us. Wonder if the bookies are on to something

More bets that are placed the shorter the odds will become.
The only thing they know is that lots of people think that he is off to us.
By shortening the odds they reduce the risk of paying off loads.
Not inside info,Just common sense..

Yes I agree but why now all of a sudden would people be loading bets on him coming to us?

Not Quite right, it could be one person who knows something and has put a heavy bet on it.

There are lads more clued up than me bout all this but it only takes one relative or friend of the player to clump a grand on it cos he's had the nod and the bookies will imediately see a non-regular bet going on and act acordingly. For all we know malky has already met the lad. Also, for all we know malky never will

If things get strained between Celtic and Wanyama, it can only force through a move quicker

Celtic are clinically pushing for every cent they can out of the deal. They are desperate for money as the SPL TV does not bring in enough revenue. They are an arrogant Club. They live for Champions League Football but will now never have enough money to launch an assault on it. So they will continue after next season to fight it out with Rangers, for nothing really. They might as well just play each other every week for the season.

Celtic are a scummy club with sum manager and even worse fans.
They should be concentrating on their big CL match with Cliftonville. That's what it is all about according to them.

Why shouldn't they push for every penny? They're trying to sell a player that wants away, and in my eyes, are doing it respectfully. Despite the players attempts to tout himself to the highest bidder, and his agents [alleged] unreasonable demands for personal wealth.
If he joins us, which I very much doubt, expect them to do the same to us.

One thing is certain if odds on fav someone knows something as who puts money on short odds? unless they know they will win money! Or bookies discouraging bets as they don't want to pay out! He is odds on for a reason just like city's promotion was?

I beg to differ. When bookies take bets they do note any patterns and the people that place them.So called smart money from known sources. It ain't 100% fool proof but it does give the bookie a good idea and they can adjust their price accordingly. You are right when you say weight of money is a factor but shortening the odds also reflects the bookmakers liability should the outcome go against them.
