A forum for all things Cardiff City

I havent been on here much the last 2 weeks so I may have missed posts regarding him if there was any.
One of the lads in work mentioned yesterday that a few people in his street have heared that a house for let in the street is going to be occupied by a cardiff city player. He came in earlier again and he said the neighbours have heared that his second name is " Barnett " . 2 children and his wife. So I expect it's Leon.
What baffles me is it's in Oakdale lol. I expect its the posh part, but the house is apparently being moved into asap.

Don't think hes good enough for the prem to be honest,Norwich wouldn't have released him otherwise

I think he'll do well for the squad, plus in my opinion he offers more than turner

Talks went on the day parade ended as MM and Barnett spoke about future and Barnett returned early but talks went on but haven't heard much the past few days.

I Was not aware of what part of Wales Barnett was living when he came to us on loan, but as i posted about 6 weeks ago -
I said we would have a CB in by the end of June ( the above player ) - i was told the same as yourself B92.

Let us remember FA rules - It would be wrong to tap up players who belong to other clubs

I have to disagree I thought he played very well for city last year, the fact that Norwich will release him is neither here or there. Some players just don't fit in with some clubs or managers and thrive elsewhere. Look at Pique as an example he struggled to break into Man Utd team, he then moved to Barcelona and has won the Champions league with Barcelona as well as European and World cups with Spain, (on top of that he married Shakira, lucky git). I am not saying Barnett is anywhere near the quality of Pique just that some players play better for some managers and clubs than others

we should be setting our sights higher imo.

I'm in a position I can check out such rumours but I'd need the name of the street at the very least.

Well does your mate live in the posh part of Oakdale, if they're in the same street?

Who do you think we should be going after?
As stats seem to suggest, we are a club who will be fighting to survive next season. Given this fact, how many high profile defenders do you think will join a Welsh club in a dogfight and have to really earn their money next season?
Personally I thought Barnett did very well. Pacey and strong - I for one, hope we bring him into our squad. Great attitude on the lad.

as im not part of the scouting team of the club, its not really for me to say. Barnett isnt someone who looks like a premier league defender IMO, and i think we could do better.
There have been a lot of rumours about signing Ince and Wanyama, 18m apparently, personally i would prefer some of this money to go where we are weakest, which is defense and up front.

If you expect Hudson to be good against Van Persie, Hazard and Bale think again. Barnett is more mobile. Hudson will get penalised for his obvious roughing up of defenders as soon as they receive the ball. Turner and Barnett Cbs please.

I think the only worry I have for Hudson is his lack of pace. Reading of the game, heading, distribution and leadership are all fine but not many CBs get away with a lack of pace in the Prem.
However, there are exceptions like Olsen at WBA, Meertersaker at Arsenal, Carragher at Liverpool but they are few and far between.
The answer could be to pair Hudson with someone with pace and both Turner and Barnett fit that bill. I hope that is the case because Hudson gives us so much more that it would be good to see him in the starting line-up.
