Most prob just trying to big him up even more, with the hope that another club will come in with a bigger offer

No one had asked him the question, he had not tweeted about it previously and then without provocation he brings the subject up?

Very odd.

Obviously clubs around the country do not trust their local hacks with any decent info.

All false from the reporter.

It was a sky sports rumour than this board and a few other outlets ran with. Pretty obvious we hadn't had a bid accepted, yet anyway.
