All gone quiet about him now, even though it was 2 days ago we heard a fee was agreed for him. Any news on whether the personal talks have started?

there was no official word that a bid had been made for him though.

Not from the club, but there never is. Sky Sports, BBC, Carl (I think) all reported a bid had been made and it sounded like a statement rather than speculation.

A club never announces when a bid has been made or a fee has been agreed, otherwise it looks embarrassing if a player rejects them, they'll only announce it once the deal is tied up and fully agreed at least in principle. A fee being agreed and reported on Sky Sports and BBC is about as official as you're going to get
