Premier League club agree fee for £8m winger
Monday, June 24, 2013 at 2:00 PM | MORE ON THIS BLOG: Cardiff

According to various reports the England U-21 winger maybe on the move after his club Blackpool agreed a fee of around £8 million for him with Cardiff, a far cry from the teams he’s previously been linked with.

Liverpool, Tottenham and Inter Milan have all apparently registered an interest in the winger in the past, but it looks like Cardiff are the first to move for Paul Ince’s son. With the newly promoted side looking to splash out and give themselves a fighting chance of survival come next season, Thomas Ince might not be a bad signing whatsoever, especially for the money we’re talking here. Wilfried Zaha’s move saw him leave Selhurst Park for around £15 million, but looking at stats Ince was the better of the two last season, goals, assists and the team he was playing in, economically Cardiff may well be getting themselves a gem for a bargain.

With a total of 18 goals last season, all coming in the Championship, opposed to Zaha’s six, Ince on the goal scoring front is miles ahead. Similar positions, similar players, it mystifies me how a player like Ince is being touted around for so much less than Zaha, Cardiff have surely got a bargain. So with a fee agreed for Blackpool with Cardiff, his future move may not be that straight forward, surely the interest from the bigger boys hasn’t dried up and they’re just waiting in the wings? But seeing the player once discarded by Liverpool, is something that pleases football fans all over the country, but whether it is Cardiff his immediate future lies, will play out in due course.

January target to join Cardiff

THE Daily Express has today reported that Tom Ince, formerly of Liverpool FC and now Blackpool, is inching closer to joining newly promoted Cardiff City.

The clubs have agreed a fee for the 21 year old England U21 international who scored 18 goals in the Championship last season, and all that appears to be left before the completion of the transfer is for personal terms to be agreed.

Ince would be Cardiff City’s first signing since being promoted to the Barclays Premier League and it will be seen as a signal of intent for a team that will not want to go the way of many newly promoted teams and end up getting relegated after just one season in the top flight of English football.

At present the size of the fee is undisclosed but with Liverpool FC having a 35% sell-on clause in Ince’s Blackpool deal then hopefully a fee of around £8-£10 million pounds could net the Reds upwards of £3 million.

Ince, son of former Liverpool FC player Paul Ince was reportedly a transfer target for Liverpool in January when the club also signed Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho. There was also talk of a bid from Tottenham Hotspur this summer, as well as the Reds renewing interest.

Cardiff City appear to have won the race to sign Blackpool star Thomas Ince after reportedly having an offer accepted for the sought-after winger.

The England under-21 international impressed a number of Premier League clubs by scoring 18 goals in 44 Championship appearances for the Tangerines last season.

Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace were thought to be among his admirers, while Ince's former club Liverpool failed in an attempt to bring him back to Anfield in January.

It had been thought that the Reds would return with a fresh bid this summer, but Sky Sports News understands that newly-promoted Cardiff have agreed a fee for the son of one-time England captain Paul Ince - his current manager at Bloomfield Road.

Ince would be Cardiff's first signing since they gained promotion to the top flight.
