Cardiff City's promotional trip to Malaysia looks like it will be called off due to poor weather conditions in the Far East.

Bluebirds boss Malky Mackay, his assistant David Kerslake, Craig Bellamy and skipper Mark Hudson were all due to fly out on Thursday until July 2 to raise the Premier League club's profile in Asia.

The trip had been organised by Cardiff's billionaire-backer Vincent Tan who is keen to see the club tap into lucrative football markets in his home nation.

But now the trip looks highly unlikely due to hazy conditions and poor air quality triggered by forest fires in Indonesia.

A state of emergency has been declared as 100 wildfires continue to burn on the island of Sumatra.

Barry McAuliffe, head of media at the club, confirmed the visit was in doubt on his official twitter account today.
"Sadly, bad weather conditions in Kuala Lumpur have all but ended our hopes of making the #CardiffCity trip to Malaysia this week," he tweeted.

"The situation is being monitored, but health and safety issues are of maximum importance. Worsening haze and air quality in the area.

"Right now it's unlikely we'll fly out on Thursday.

"It's highly unlikely we will travel there during pre-season."

I personally don't mind tan, but this trip was stupid. When Malky is needed here to put some work in tan is shipping him off to Malaysia

Like its been posted before its not like Malky will be out of the loop even if he went. Skype' email I'm sure he'd be in constant contact with the scouting team
