Why I still dislike Manchester united

Sun Jun 23, 2013 11:06 am

:old: Hi to all u bluebirds,

As an older bluebird since 1969, I just wanted to share with you the reason why I still very much dislike Man Utd as a club.

Back in the 1960's/70's there was not much commercialism within football - You just went down Ninian Park, Dad paid on the turnstile and had a brill afternoon.

So, as a young Cardiff lad and getting into football, I decided to write a personal letter to various top football clubs to ask for a team signature/autograph sheet. (Bluebirds of course, Wolves, Burnley,Preston, Liverpool, Man Utd, Chelsea, West Ham,etc, etc). I also included a stamped address envelope.

About a week later my replies started to come back - Cardiff was one of the first sending me a headed paper with team signatures/autographs on(toshack, clarke, etc, etc), plus some other stuff - I was made up !!!

wolves (sent team sheet signatures/autographes). Burnley, Preston, Liverpool, Chelsea all sent autograph sheets. West Ham sent me a large envelope with signature sheet, a few programs and a bookmark.

Do you know what MAN UTD sent me back? "A CLUB PRICE LIST" - I never forgave them !!!!!

Just goes to show that if you capture the kids imagination early at a football club - they will usually be loyal forever.

Great story. I can't wait for United down here, it's one of those clubs the whole country loves to hate. If we beat them next season it would be one of the best moments iv'e had supporting Cardiff.

Well obviously they found another method hence 75000 home crowds and 100m supporters world wide, I don't think Wolves can match that

See where your coming from but we are going to beat the Jacks regularly and them the same to us, we are on a equal footing. Wins against United may be a once in a generation thing, it would be a truly special moment to beat Manchester United, the kings of English football.
