Tom Ince

Sat Jun 22, 2013 6:55 pm

There's a lot of talk that Ince may be a key signing. He is not a proven Premier League player, before id ever spend 8 million id at least expect to see him playing for another Premier League club, prove himself and then maybe spend 10 or 12 million. 8 million for a player who is very young, possibly naive and un-proven is ridiculous!

I'm more excited to see who Malky buys in defence to be honest. Rather spend that 8 million on 2 decent defenders, maybe a Kevin McNaughton-esq type player - quick, gets stuck in, makes the runs, not afraid to attack and can get back just as quick as he can get up the field.

Dont get me wrong, i know we need a trusted - injury free - sticker but Tom Ince ain't it!

that's the risk though isn't it? You wait until a player like Ince proves himself in the premier league and you'll be looking at upwards of 15 million, not 8.

Tom Ince is a winger.

Tom Ince is a winger with a vast amount of pace and trickery, something we need as we lacked it last season bar for Noone and at times Bellamy.. Of course we need defenders no doubt about that but 8m is okay for a player of Ince's standard, other clubs want him and I'd be surprised if we landed him to be honest. He's 21 years of age so if we get relegated or that then oh well we can keep him or sell him on.

Very young and British with huge potential. Prices for British players are always inflated!

Will definitely be exciting to see if it does pay off. Ince is incredible don't get wrong but i'm a little sceptical at the moment. Maybe the move will be justified by the other players that come in. We've never been in a situation where we're potentially buying to survive! Cannot wait until the transfer window officially opens!

Hilarious, these threads are hilarious.

Zaha cost 15 million never played in the Prem and overhyped by Media.

To get a talent in Britain for 8 million isn't that bad.

To get a big British talent for under double figures is quite something.

even if we spent £8m on Ince, which obviously won't all be paid in one hit, we will still have £17m in the kitty, (if the £25m figure is anything to go off) we could still spend your £8m on two defenders, and still have £9m in the kitty.

Don't Panic, Malky knows what he's doing! :malky:

Isn't spotting potential in players all part of a manager/scouts job? That Swansea fella who cost £2m hadn't played in the PL yet bagged 20 goals.

MM seems to have the opinion that TI is a good monetary investment as his value should only increase if he improves in the PL and stays free of injury.

£20m for Downing - Liverpool - overpaid transfer fee
£20m for Henderson - Liverpool - can come good but overpaid
£15m for Zaha - Man Utd - can come good but overpaid transfer fee
£15m for Allen - Liverpool - overpaid transfer fee
£15m for Bentley - Spurs - overpaid easily and stupid wages
£21m for Wright-Phillips - Chelsea - never lived up to the hype of the value for that type of fee at the time
£35m for Carroll - Liverpool - well, words dont even....

Liverpool have spent £90m on 4 overrated players - Downing, Henderson, Allen and Carroll........

.....and people want to criticise £8m for Ince who funnily enough Liverpool let go.

With a good structure payment he's easily worth 8mil.

He's got better pedigree than Zaha, more end product, and seems destined to be consistently apart of the England set up.
