What a great signing and a steal for 10m. We could have put in a cheeky bid for him but at this moment in time Soton are a much more attractive option, they seem very ambitious in the transfer market and its paying off.

I just do not get it. he was worth 900k 18 months ago and since which time has plyed his trade against Ross County Cally thistle and St Mirren. A couple of decent performances against an off form Barcelona does not make him worth £10m. madness!!

If he's anywhere near as strong in real life as he is on FIFA he'll be a cracking signing for them. To be honest I'm glad we're not spending £10m on unproven players - unless you're someone like Man City it's an awful lot of money!

I watch a lot of Scottish football and it's evident he's very good player. Ten mill though? Not sure an unproven player is worth that but if he turns out to be very good then he's young so would be quality for years. If he's not up to it then I don't they would get ten mill back if they try to sell him on.

Personally I think he will cut it, not looked out of place at all in the Champions League and quality in the SPL.

Media again, bigging up certain players and managers and suddenly it's all true. 15 Million for Zaha!! and Martinez relegates Wigan and presto, Everton manager.

Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama has revealed that the Scottish giants have today accepted a £10m bid from Southampton for his services.

The 21-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in recent weeks, with Saints mentioned alongside Cardiff City and Stoke City as a potential summer destination.

Wanyama has admitted that Saints are currently the only club to have a concrete offer accepted by Celtic, while also insisting that a deal is far from complete.

He is quoted by The Mirror as saying: "My club has agreed a deal with Southampton, but I will also have to consider terms before I become a Saint."

Saints will now begin talks with the Kenyan international over personal terms, as Mauricio Pochettino looks to a build squad capable of solidifying their place as an established Premier League force.

Pochettino has already completed one notable transfer deal in the close season, with Croatian defender Dejan Lovren joining from Lyon for a fee of £8.5m.

Shocking but will be good to see Wanyama in the PL at least. :malky:

Looks as though Malky not prepared to pay the Ten Mill.

Is a lot for an unproven player so probably a sensible decision.

In a way I'm glad we are not paying the money quoted, in another I'm gutted as he could be class next to gunnar and give us a solid backbone.

IF we stay up (think we will finish 12-15th) and we were looking at this type of signing next summer I'd say go for it to help us push on and improve (second season syndrome) the team with a few quality signings and wouldn't be so worried about spending bigger sums.

The actual truth of the matter is we were probably never interested in signing him but his agent put our name into the hat to force southamptons hand

Agree with this. Agents are working overtime to engineer, manipulate, & concoct all sorts of moves for their clients, all in order to achieve a better deal for themselves.
