Not to renew was the right choice.

Thu Jun 20, 2013 11:07 am

Having agonised over my choice not to renew, I have finally come to terms with it and am now certain it was the right choice for me. The announcement about the red seating and the rip off £40 Gold Membership is only the start of things to come. I just hope that in future you will not be priced out of the game by the practices of modern football. :ayatollah:

While the club runs a payment plan on season tickets it means that fans should be able to afford to go to matches.

It's sad that your not going to be able to watch a team you have a lot of affection for. It must be even harder because you have probably waited years for that club to get in this position.
You're standing up for what you feel is right and that is commendable.

Sad thing is,when you didn't renew another new fan joined,We have a waiting list of around 10k wanting any form of tickets.
So it's not hurting the club despite your personal sacrifice.

Red seats are a rumour as far as I'm aware and will treat as such until i hear otherwise.
The membership scheme is used by many clubs to maximise club profits, Which is just good business sense.

Hope you return at some point :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I'm not judging anyone else but I CAN NOT get into any game while that tacky shirt is worn by OUR clubs representatives. It represents too much negativity. Bit of a shame really.

On a slightly different note to the rebrand, i think a lot of oldschool fans will slowly be edged out of the game by prices, or by the club deciding they're not the sort of fan it no longer desires. After all paying fans are there pretty much to provide a visual spectacle for the real money source = Overseas television.

I can see a time in the future where the atmosphere is so sterile from older fans being priced out and new fans prefering to watch it on telly, that premier league clubs will usher in a rent-a-mob of red-wig wearing superfans for matches free of charge. Just to give the impression to far eastern viewers that the games EPIC.

A bit dramatic thinking that.

A lot of games in the UK are already atmosphere dead. Compare Man U games with 60,000 in the crowd to a normal German Bundaleague match and it makes Old Trafford a library. A visual spectacular I'll give you that but soon the medias will need to address the atmosphere problem that is creeping into our game.

Whether you renewed or didn't renew, you can only stand by what you feel is the right thing for you to do. I didn't renew. I don't blame any fan for renewing. God knows there are moments when I regret it but I know I would have regretted it more if I had renewed because I would have defied my own integrity.

I will always support the club and I am so pleased for the players, staff and fans that we've made it. I'm gutted I'm not going to see a game in the Premier League for the time being with us but that's just the way it is for me. I hope whatever decision anyone makes regarding blue or red, we are all Cardiff fans and should respect each others' decisions. :ayatollah:

Fair enough but I won't lower myself by judging other fans feelings or decisions.

On one side you have a fan who is struggling with his torment on what is going on the club.
And on the other you have a fan who is quick to judge his fellow supporter and label him.

Personally I know who I would refer to as a shit fan.

Thanks for that dong. You have managed to sum up my many years of support for the club and my agonising decision not to renew by dismissing it with 2 ill chosen words. Well, thats modern football for you. :ayatollah:

I recall the days when any person that supported the club was welcome. It was sad to see anyone leave like.

Oh well the new breed of fan is amongst us.

Your decision, mate, and its to be respected. Very unhappy myself about the rebrand, but have renewed. I enjoyed last season, especially the away trips with the supporters' club. There is still a lot of traditional pro-blue feeling around. Saw my first game in 1968, so I'm staying. To be honest, I can take or leave the PL. Part of me will miss the Championship. Besides, there are only a handful of clubs in the Prem that we have not played in the last ten years. Don't think there is anybody that I have not seen us play sometime over my years supporting the City.

Respect your decision, but still sorry to see you go.

I don't care if there was 100,000 people waiting for my seat as that is an irrelevance. The team and the recent changes mean that its not the same to me anymore but I am glad that I have supported them to this point. There is little point in going through the motions of attending if you are not enjoying what has happened. I have never been a glory hunter, so attending just because we are now in the prem would not interest me. To the fans that have managed to stomach the changes, I am pleased for you and I hope that modern football does not take its toll on you as well. :ayatollah:

Glad you are comfortable with your decision to abandon the club (Tan is NOT the club ;) ) just as it reaches the heights we all dreamed of...

Kingdong you really are unbelievable. Why don't you respect other fans feelings on this subject which as far as I'm concerned has split our great fanbase up. Bluebird64 has a right to his own opinion and can choose what he likes without having to worry about people like you calling him a shit fan. I am totally against the rebrand but I still go and will continue going and have renewed by season ticket for around the 20th season but that is my choice and should also be respected. I am grateful to Tan for most things but will always be against him about the rebrand. You or no one else will ever change my decision on that as its my "personal" choice.
You really should respect others views on this instead of ridiculing them.

In the same boat, didn't go last season, won't be there this season.

Even when some of the games where on TV it felt wrong.

Gutted that I'm missing the PL ride but happier that I have my integrity and stood by what I feel.

Are you insinuating that people who renewed have no integrity?
