Cardiff City have held talks with Carlton Cole and his representatives over a proposed move to Cardiff City Stadium.

During talks Malky Mackay insisted that Cole moved to Wales if the move was to materialise, Cole stated that if he signed for Cardiff then he would continue to live in London.

As a result talks have broken down and at the time of writng the proposed transfer is off.

Thank God for that. I dont think hes the answer and would rather give Bent an extra £30,000 per week than sign him.

That's a shame think he's a good target man!! Was he one of the players we had in the bag to be announced this week or are these other ones still in the bag ??

Good decision from Malky and co.

Cole would be a fantastic signing on a free, but wanting to remain that far way is ridiculous.

I just hope they do everything in their power to now sign Bent or Gomis.

Ashley Cole yes. Carlton Cole no.

Live in London but train in Cardiff each day?

I hope this distinctly average player decides never to set foot in Wales, aside from playing against Newport County.

I do love Malky's code of conduct.

I think he wanted to remain in London for the first season and if we remained a prem side he would consider it then.

Personally though I think he could do a job for us, I don't like his attitude that much.

Says on the bbc site he's off to hull along with curtis davies ...so theres 2 names out of the frame then.

Think this can put to bed the darren bent signing as well cos if we had him ready to go malky would not be talking to cole so i take it we can cross bent off the list as well.

Re: CARLTON COLE

cole scored two goals in the prem last season
not what we are looking for im afraid
be buzzing with Bent and Ince mind

Why are we crossing players off an, albeit imaginary, list when they haven't signed for any other club yet?

I also doubt the club talk to one potential striker at a time. There could be offers on the table for Bent, Cole and Gomis doesn't mean we'd sign them all.

bent is a proven goalscorer but cant see us talking to him if we have spoke to cole first , otherwise we have been speaking to him cos bent turned us down .

I guess we are talking to and bidding for a number of players in the same position and not putting all our eggs in one basket.

Football is cut-throat as we know. You can be confident of a deal and then at the last minute you'll get trumped so putting all of the eggs in one basket is a disaster. Clubs will keep a number of deals juggling and then choose the best one when the dotted line has been signed... the rest get dropped.

Personally I dont think Cole would have passed the personality test and would not have fitted into Malky's team ethic. I'd rather be a player light in the squad than have someone who is billy big bollocks

Re: CARLTON COLE

billy big bollocks prob sums him up,he'll end up at another london team wont go anywhere outside the m25 probably.
