Arab satellite system to watch games

Wed Jun 19, 2013 11:35 am

If it was cheap enough id buy a Arabic or Far east or whatever system to watch all the premier league games

Cant believe that more pubs are not investing this summer as it is now legal and would pay for itself with packed pubs every game.

I fancy this one off e bay only 50 quid --would it work for Premier game

Firstly the legal bit its only partly legal if you are receiving satellite broadcasts from inside the EU.There is still some dispute as to whether the copyrights on the logos of the premier league etc would be infringed if they are used but its probably not going to be an issue.

So any middle east or far eastern systems would be illegal here.

Secondly check the coverage of the satellites involved I believe the middle eastern cannot be picked up in the UK even with a huge dish. As for far eastern they wouldn't broadcast here I would assume.

Apologies for trying to give you some advice, me being a swans fan and all that, but I've got a box set up in the pub, gives me all the Al Jazeera sports channels, OSN, Abu Dhabi etc.

Had the dreaded visit off Sky the other day because I had the Lions match on, not a huge issue, as it's the first incident in the pub so they wont press it, but I'm waiting on some clarification with this. Very grey area...

Also, looking at the channel list on that box you linked to, none of the channels for the football are listed.

You are allowed to pick up other European services as you are protected under EU law and rights. You are entitled to pick any EU service you want (providing you pay for the service card) as much as any other EU citizen.

As for Asian TV etc. its all illegal. You have no right to broadcast that in an EU. No EU citizen does. If I was you I'd go for an Eastern Europe satellite (Bulgaria, Romania) and then you'll get 3pm KO's too. In Bulgaria we have Nova Sport and Diema and it shows plenty of games when I come here Christmas time I watch loads of football. Some in English, some in another language but it dont bother me. I just have a drink and enjoy the game. Easier than listening to the monotonous voice of Alan Smith anyway.

Or if you have the money (will be cost effective long term against a Sky package) get a motorised dish. Set points at Eastern Europe, Asia and Africa. Then if anyone comes knocking tell them its set to EU channels. Bring them in, show them Eastern Europe channels and happy days. You also get better music channels in Eastern Europe and HBO is free.

If I was you I would just wait for the HD streaming services to come out and watch them. NBC in America have won the rights to show every single PL game and an online HD service will get started by someone so you can sign up and watch them over here. You might need a proxy server or VPN to do it though.

If you are at home and want US TV then a Slingbox host is what you are after. Its a PC setup so you'll need to plug your PC into a TV or monitor via HDMI.

Then get the required package etc. It sends the signal over the internet at around 1-2mbps so you'd need a decent enough speed to stream it.

If you are a pub owner dont do the above and do the satellite route with Eastern Europe. :ayatollah:

The Diema/Nova package is okay, but it's hit and miss on what fixtures you actually get, added to which, there is very little aside from the live football worth showing. Legally fine, but cover up the PL logo. From my experience, as long as you are playing Man Utd, then the games will be on.
