Look how far we have come.

How many were there I wonder?

And how many will want to be there for our first home game.

I hated those days.

But i loved them as well if that doesn't sound too daft.

Can anyone who stood on those terraces have really thought that one day within most of our lifetimes we would be playing in arguably the top league in world football in a new stadium with crowds of over 20,000 for every home game?

Still have to pinch myself to be honest.

1986

Not the most memorable of seasons. I think it was the year some Wolves had a slap on the bob bank?

I was a ballboy between 1980 and 1986 so I was there lol :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Yes we have come a long way since 1986 and in a short while we will be hosting home games with attendances in the high 30,000's rather the high 3,000's.

But I remember when we used to say that Cardiff City should be playing in front of 30,000 if only some millionaire would invest in us. Indeed Sam Hammam's plan to have a 58,000 stadium was laughed at but without kicking a ball in the Premier League our starting point is at least 30,000 and probably nearer 40,000.

More the merrier I say :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Bloody Hell that was an important job, losing even one ball could have sent us under in them days ;)

Indeed they are. I for one hope we never go back to these days, I can almost spot where I would have been standing :old:

If this photo was in 86, it would be 10 years before I first visited ninian park

It would have been hard for me to be there at that game as I was born in 1993

However my dad tells me we beat Colchester 4-2 on a friday night the day i was born

He had a dream, whilst we kicked our heels and followed Cardiff City, he woke us up and woke the "left wing" up to what a successful football team in South Wales could do. My first live game was Man U in 1974, a kid, what an introduction Eh? The second was I think Blackpool a year or so later, no idea of the crowd, probably 8 to 9 thousand perhaps? Gave up for years until I moved to London, became friends with a lot of the old Chelsea folk, went to one or two home games of theirs and the atmosphere was shite, my claim to fame is after being bored shitless was rendering a hearty rendition of, not too sure but I'm told the first, "Where were you then they were shit".

Whilst my Sarf London mates were well impressed with my new tune and indeed gestures towards the Pikey, the less intelligent left wing (sorry but got that one in) of their support wished to discuss the use of the word "they".

I did visit Plough Lane once or twice, knew and still do not only players but some of the old staff. One of those strange things in life where an ordinary bloke like myself has more mates, friends, who were employed by the club than actual supporters.

Cardiff City FC is bigger than any of us, we've got what we could never have in our wildest dreams imagined 15 years ago, as Tony said, Look how far we've come. It's Cardiff City, not the individual , the need of the many outweigh those of the few. Spock quote from some Star Trek film or other to save the chavs from CCMB a few minutes.
