A forum for all things Cardiff City

After England's exit from the u21 championships, a cast of doubt seems to have been shown for the future of English and ultimately British football. Why? In my opinion, the reason why Spain and Germany are so powerful in all areas is because they look after and develop their players much better. Take a look at Isco for example, best player in the tournament in my opinion but look at the level he's playing at. Regularly playing for Malaga in the Champions League and La Liga he is already experienced for his age and has a massive future. On the other hand, England's brightest prospect is Zaha. Yes he's a united player but will sitting on the bench help his development?
The point I'm making is how can we ever expect our countries to be amongst the best of the world if our young players are playing at lower levels (championship) or bench warming the big sides when other countries are developing their players at the big stage?
Just a thought

Can't really compare Wales with Spain to be honest, we haven't got a pot to piss in, but I'd rather our team more welsh born than have to take Englands cast offs

Zaha is far from England's brightest prospect.
That'd be Jones, Wilshire or Oxlaid-Chamberlain. All of which are with the seniors.
That's why England U21s never do anything.

apart from Wilshere they're not the same quality as players like Isco or Insigne. Oxlaide Chamberlain is warming arsenals bench. Look at Bale, playing regularly for a top English side and shines at international level. We need our big clubs nurturing our top talent so our national sides will be become better.

The original post mentions Germany but they were also knocked out in the group stages of the u-21's.

I think it's nonsense tbh.
The likes of Isco aren't good because they play first team at the highest level, it's the other way around. They play because they're already good enough to play.

Isco's 2 years older than Chamberlain and Jones.
Also as the post above me says the Spanish players aren't getting in the team because their young spanish players it's because they're good enough.
English and Welsh players in general aren't good enough.

Points taken. Cheers guys. I just debate that if our best prospects played for the likes of Man Utd, Chelsea, spurs every other week like it is abroad I think it would benefit our youngsters and help us move forward in the future
