Have to agree. Had you lot been in lower leagues our fans would have kicked off big time.

Bizarre theory
We had just failed in a play off semi final, then we were threatened with our main benefactor pulling the plug on his previous 3 year commitment. The first thought would have been to avoid the winding up orders and the court cases. We were never guaranteed promotion were we - the guaranteed security of the club was far more important than the small inconvenience of you lot punching above your weight

NeathWarrior wrote:well there are many Cardiff fans on here that admit that they were leaning towards backing because we were already in the prem so the answer to your question is probably yes. otherwise there would have been some opposition to it instead of pretty much nothing. others will state other reasons, which were also contributory factors lets be honest. But I think anyone who says they didn't think about the increased opportunity to get to where we were may be telling a fib.
If they were concerned about the state of the finances back then, then those same people shouldn't be calling for 50k a week signings and 25 million quid on transfer fees. theres an awful lot of that type around.

Yes we were all trying to get where you were, but not because you were there.![]()
We needed the backing or we were bust. Fact.

Just glance at the archives of this and other cardiff city forums. The moment Swansea got to the big league, discontent amongst Cardiff fans reached a new high. Cardiff fans from that point on HAD to be in the premier league.
People have said before that if a rich businessman tried to make Everton play in red or Liverpool in blue then it just wouldn't be allowed to happen. The majority of Cardiff fans were not that bothered about the rebrand and those that did care were quickly mellowed by the promise of premier league football. what happened to all those 'i wont go again' fans. Still attending aye?
Like your chairman says, maybe a small number might leave but the majority are just happy for success.... I even heard this classic more than a few times: "i'd play in pink if it got us to the premier league".
cardiff sold out and anyone who denies that is lying. Jealousy of Swansea was a factor in that.
