Bellamy, when he signed on loan. At the time he would have been a starter for some of the biggest clubs in Europe.

Bellamy on the loan deal was a huge signing.

My old man keeps saying John Charles!
Mon Jun 17, 2013 7:41 pm
Thou I am not old enough It must surely be John Charles On the world scene very few British players have ever been as well thought of. In playing terms Bellemy would not be even close to him
In my time it's Bellemy but have to give it to Charles

Beat you to it this time Carlos
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=115104Shall I start crying that your posts always get priority and that others are deleted?
My opinion, Charles - that's from old football books I've read.
In my lifetime, either Bellamy or Hasselbaink.

Fowler - excessive wages. Promotion? - not even close
Hasslebaink - excessive wages. Promotion? Not even close
Bellamy (loan) excessive wages. Promotion? No.
Bellamy (permanent) excessive wages (proved his worth?). Promotion? Yes
Koumas (1st time) awesome. Promotion? Not even close.
Leon Barnet, business end of season, defensive crisis, team under pressure, performed brilliantly. - standard wages. Promotion? Yes.

In recent times, the amount of publicity and media coverage that Bellamy loan move generated was amazing. It was on Sky Sports all day on the day he signed.
Mon Jun 17, 2013 10:26 pm
Fowler probably the biggest name in world football. But the Bellamy loan was the best publicity for us. I remember when it was announced, I was bouncing. Got home and it was on SSN all day. He would have got into most teams any day

we went from leo fortune west who at the time was a lot of money at i think £300,000 no disrespect to leo but we have gone from the likes of leo to craig bellamy who i think is the biggest signing.
Also peter thone and cav at the time was massive.
Mad how far we have come in a short time wicked

Although I'm a big admirer of Craig Bellamy Carl, It has to be John Charles for me, I was lucky enough to see him play and the aura surrounding the man was immense, indeed he was a gentle giant, definitely a one off footballer.
