At least two deals in the bag

Fri Jun 14, 2013 1:35 pm

It'll be nice for everyone to get an announcement, but why the delay? I was given an interesting theory earlier on how Malky and his team go about their business. Say for argument sake we've struck a deal with Lyon and Befitimbi Gomis - I'm not saying that's the case, but if we break our transfer record by some considerable amount then would it be wiser for the club to wait until later in the window to announce we've parted with such a substantial amount ergo alerting every other club we're dealing with that we're prepared to spend a little extra if needs be to get our targets?

One thing we can say of Malky is everything is done in-house. I might be wrong but were there any targets last year that were reported we missed out on? The man is thorough and is a breath of fresh air for any football club. Perhaps the anticipation is a part of his plan

Love that! All the panicking of fans saying we should be out getting players now etc, it's not like they've had their finger up their arse even when they're supposed to be on holiday, they've been working on targets.

I agree with this too, said the same to my mate last week (egg chaser) when he asked if we had signed anyone.

An interesting theory but isn't announcing we have £25m to spend going a bit the other way?

I mean if we went in for say 'Befitimbi Gomis' (not saying we have) then doesn't that tip off Lyon we have that much to spend and up the anti?

Don't get me wrong I think MM is brilliant in the transfer market but at the moment it is all apples and pears.

They left half their inurds on the ninian park pitch in the FA cup so they aren't really new signings, been here ages. :D

Good points, although we can take whatever Tan says in public with a large pinch of salt. I think the £25m remark was to get the annoying western journalist off his property as fast as possible :D

Spot on CityGent.

What tan meant was we have £25m to spend on each player.

Well if your theory is correct. The two in the bag must be massive signing. Exciting times :malky:

A lot of signings dont get announced as well until the other club has tied up a deal for their incoming player.I think like you say we already have signings done but they are just waiting for the correct time to announce them for whatever reason.

The other one being Carlton Cole, I would take those two without a doubt

Well said and IMHO probably 'spot on'

Our club (and Malky specifically) have never been so professional :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
