A forum for all things Cardiff City

Haven't been to an away game before and looking to go to a few next year. I assume there will be some sort of loyalty points system so it will be only the smaller games to start with, which is fine.
Trouble is, the person I go to home games with is unlikely to want to come and so I will be on my own. Are away fans generally accepting of new away fans, it would be good to make some new friends who are Cardiff fans as at the moment most of my mates don't even like football.

No like I said, it'll be difficult for someone who hasn't been to away games before to get tickets to the big games which is fair enough. Games like Hull, Crystal Palace, Stoke are games where I may realistically may be able to get a ticket with no away history.

I'm in the same boat as you mate, I've been threatening for a few years to go away, but money has always been a bit tight, but this season things are looking better so will be going to a couple of aways.

i think you may find a lot of games will be sold out even though they may seem like smaller games hull ,stoke etc but they are still prem games and a lot will want to see,but depends when they are going to be u may be lucky for example if stoke away is a sky game on a monday night then there may well be tickets available or if we are doing crap then poss tickets will be poss available, but most clubs in prem will give us 2/3k and as our away support in the championship averaged about 1.5k(think) i think its gonna b tuff to get tickets as a new away traveller in my opinion.also all the new premier seat season ticket holders are going to be offered away tickets too it will make it tougher, and im all for new fans going away and hope youll be welcomed but you will get a lot of supporters on message boards whos opinions differ.

To be fair I'd have to agree with that, a lot of supporters would just see it as we're jumping on the band wagon and not really giving a f*ck about personal situations, with that said I know how long I've been going down the city, I know places my dad took me to watch city (some real shit holes) so I couldn't give a shit about the stick I'd get, I'm just all for following the City through thick and thin, I'd still be there if we got relegated would half of these snipers on here? very doubtful....

There are a few reasons for not going away before, money being the main one but also no one to go with. Home games don't cost much as I've already paid for my ST but for an away day you're looking at £100 for tickets, travel, meals, drinks etc. I'm doing better financially now and so hoping to go to a few aways and hopefully fellow fans will welcome me as I think it would be pretty poor to chastise someone who supports the same club as you just because they haven't been to as many games for whatever reason.
I understand it may be difficult to get tickets and if I can't then I'll be disapointed but it would be completely fair. Other fans who have been away more should of course be rewarded for their loyalty. Hopefully I'll see you on a few away games this season billyako.

Everybody has to start going to away games at some point. I only started going away again a few seasons ago, although my first away games were in the 1970s. Whatever the ticketing system, just do your best. As a ST holder, you could be in with a shout. Especially for some of the more mundane PL clubs. A lot of them we have played in the last ten years, so the novelty value will not be so great.Think you will find that the away fans are friendly enough. Certainly been my experience. At the end of the day, we support the same club.
