I know this has been said on here before and I apologies now for quoting the scummiest paper in the world but if Kanu does want to leave Reading as the report suggests, I think he'd be a great and very realistic signing for us.

Hardly a crap player, really started to come into his own lately for Reading and Wales. Very decent squad player.

Hal Robson-Kanu @RobsonKanu 16m
Seems I have been mis-quoted by the press. Just to clarify I am currently in talks with Reading to extend the year remaining on my contract.

He's worth taking a small risk on, like you said he came into some form towards the end of the season.

Not bad, plus they're signing Drenthe

READING FC are in talks with former Real Madrid player Royston Drenthe, according to reports.
Dutch media say Drenthe, who scored three goals in 21 appearances on loan at Everton in the 2011/21 Premier League season, could be set to pen a three-year deal at Madejski Stadium.
Drenthe, 26, is available on a free transfer after leaving Russian side FC Alania.
Meanwhile, rumours suggest Cardiff City have tabled a seven-figure bid for Reading's Wales international Hal Robson-Kanu.
The 24-year-old winger expressed his desire to play in the Premier League last weekend, but is also involved in talks over a new contract with Royals.
Reading boss Nigel Adkins is set to make wholesale changes over the summer, having signed free agent Wayne Bridge last week to replace left backs Ian Harte and Nicky Shorey, two of 11 players released by the club.
Centre-back Alex Pearce and Noel Hunt rejected new contracts, with three former Reading managers believed to be vying for Pearce's signature.
The 24-year-old has been heavily linked with Alan Pardew's Newcastle United and Brendan Rodgers' Liverpool, though sources suggest Brian McDermott is keen on taking him to Leeds United.
McDermott already looks likely to sign one of his former Reading players following strong interest in Hunt.
The others Royals' players released are Nick Bignall, Simon Church, Charlie Losasso, Angus MacDonald, Jay Tabb, Joshua Webb and Brett Williams.
Tabb has already made a permanent switch to loan club Ipswich Town where he signed a two-year deal.
Royals owner Anton Zingarevich has given Adkins the green light to bolster his squad with £8 million-rated Celtic striker Gary Hooper, Doncaster Rovers left back Tommy Spurr as well as former Wolves forward Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, Southampton forward Billy Sharp and Danish midfielder Martin Spellmann among his potential targets.
Zingarevich said: "I think recruitment is the most important thing to a football club. If you get your recruitment right, then you're going to have good finances and it helps you perform on the pitch."

Drenthe is too good for the Championship.

I would be happy with Robson-Kanu signing for us for £2m but i hear that Reading want to replace him with Royston Drenthe. I think we should go for Drenthe now, especially as he is on a free. The best thing about Drenthe is that he can play in every position on the left side and comfortably. I remember seeing him playing for Feyenoord at left back a few years ago and was thinking that he was going to go on and be one of the worlds best left backs. He did get a great move to Real Madrid but he was not used enough and when he was he was used as a left or right winger. Then after a while they loaned him to Granada i think it was, and he did really well for them and they wanted to sign him but Madrid wanted too much, so he was sent on loan to a few other clubs, then Madrid eventually released him. His best position IMO is left back with somebody on the left in front of him. I know that he has been around a few clubs but i really think that the Premier League is suited to him, as he showed at Everton when he was on loan with them. He was quality in Dutch football and their football is similar to ours but the standard and quality is much better here.
Personally, i would prefer it if we were to sign Drenthe on a free, rather than Robson-Kanu for £2m+. I don't think that Drenthe would command that high of a wage, compared to Robson-Kanu.
I'd go for Drenthe every day over Robson-Kanu.
Just Saying!!
