Ideas to Make This Forum Better

Right lads,

There's been a bit of chat recently about how old skool decent posters have been posting less and how certain mundane topics such as the rebrand are taking over the forums with the same bland topics e.g. "Do you support the rebrand?" etc.

So here is a suggestion to improve the forums and improve the standard of posting. We have monthly awards.

I used to run a Football Manager fan site called FM View when I was younger and slightly less geeky than I am now. We used to have monthly awards such as Topic of the Month, Poster of the Month and Comment of the Month.

It would be hard to start off with all three without Owain adding some things to the forums so even if we started off with Poster of the Month it might encourage people to make more of an effort to post decent topics and make decent posts in topics.

Later on, maybe a rating system could be adding where people can rate topics with the top rated topics being nominated at the end of each month and then we could also set up a sticky thread where people can copy and paste their nominations for Comment of the Month?

It's just some ideas but wondered what you lads thought?

Ban Barry Chuckles, or limit him to 10 posts a day.

He is a passive aggressive bully who derails most threads with his condesending tone.

He also got one of my mates banned recentley just for calling him a Jack , so an eye for an eye and all that.

Likes to dish it out, cant take it back.

Separate the topics more. 'General chat' isn't enough with the amount of random crap people write on here.

Could have like:

Cardiff talk

World Footballl

International Football

Entertainment/News

Computer Games

Off Topic Sports

To be honest I think it will turn people off if the General chat gets spilt into different groups. Its a fact that theboard gets quiet when there's no football to talk about so chill out and enjoy the summer break for a change!!!

I can only speak for myself but I did bump into Daya last week and both of us said the same about the forum that its had its day. Whether or not that is true is another matter mind.

Quality Control - There have been a fair few munters on the Boobs And Babes thread of late - enough to put one off ones stroke. This must stop immediately. There must be a 'Growlometer' software patch that filters out these monstrosities to ensure consistently class clunge?

I for one feel that the re-brand is one of the only decent topics on here at the moment, admittedly it's got out of hand but we would never have believed there was such a divide had the topic not been breached.
We've witnessed 1st hand on this forum how strong opinion is on either side and that could not have been done without this site as a vehicle for venting anger or praising the vision.
That said I do think the site can be split up and a few sub headings added for transfer news, Rumour speculation, Total Ballox, Genuine CCFC info, The Re-brand etc.

Who can make the most accounts award.. we have a winner already!

Jes. I kind of agree and disagree. I think it potentially a great topic to discuss because it is such a major part of the club and a hot topic with supporters. However, it does get manipulated and abused by people who just have no respect or value for other people's opinions which is totally against what this forum is about.

Another thing I would like to suggest is temporary bans for people who disrupt topics on a persistent basis. Say if a moderator has more complaints from more than two people about how they are posting then maybe they are given a 24-48 hour ban? If you are temporarily banned more than three times then you receive a month ban and then if you are banned again it's permanent?

I got two accounts banned for saying that Boobs and Bums thread was pathetic and some of the pictures were horrific. Literally all I said and I got them both banned.

Ban re-brand threads and posts relating to the re-brand, give them their own subsection where members can bully and name call to their hearts content and leave the football side of things for more mature people.

I certainly agree that the topic has been abused and manipulated and it's even caused more of a divide. I have a clear view of what I personally think about the rebrand but do not wish to add any fuel to the fire as It would just continue to flair. I do however have pretty good reasoning skills and genuinely believe that it's a topic worth discussing. What I hate is that the passion for or against it is so fervent that it has without doubt alienated some fans from posting on here due to them feeling persecuted. I've noticed too that if a person has a view on a different topic and posts on that topic then he/she is often ridiculed or persecuted for their earlier comments regarding the rebrand when in fact the current topic has no bearing on the rebrand.
I don't pretend to know the answer to how to stop the spiraling abuse or how to stop posters who just continue to aggravate a situation because they get some sort of satisfaction out of it but i do know this:
I enjoy coming on here and reading posts that give me general info about our team, I have on many occasions had my eyes opened and my mind changed due to some of the better posters on here and their ability to explain in layman's terms their reasons for how they feel.
As for the Bans..,...I would love that but then i feel guilty for feeling that way because everyone has the right to have an opinion and who are we to stop that.

What pissing me off is that if you have a debate with someone then that person would log onto his/her many different accounts and pretend to have so many people against you when really its just that one person all along.

Where did I say I was offended?! as I said in the post originally, I just find it pathetic that some people still post rubbish like that on here. Makes them look very silly!

Ways to make this forum better?

Stricter control on the abusive behaviour rule. It appears that for some, they are exempt from rules.

Rebrand section. There are some which find the rebrand still important, but I understand that there are those who have accepted it & wish to move on. This would make the forum a lot better! The ones that want to discuss the rebrand can continue to do so & those who don't wont see any of the debate and the forum will be a lot "cleaner" for those users.

My mate got banned for calling you a "Jack tw*t" yet nothing is said to you when you call other posters "morons" and "stupid" just because they have a difference of opinion.

Lads, this is petty. It's this sort of bickering that's making this site go downhill. You're decent posters when you actually post something other than abuse or retaliation. Not all of us get on. It's a basic fact of this forum. Can we please start acting more responsibly and mature though? I've been guilty of it as well so this isn't a patronising post.
