And at the eleventh hour, just as the contracts are being signed, Sam will ask for a further £500,000 before signing.

Surely he wouldn't do something like that to his "family"?

Would he?

Can we expect some 'official' news anytime soon or will it be kept quiet until due diligence and signatures?

No I'd after disagree , most are holding back in order not to rock the boat and put our club in jeopardy . The fans surely will have a greater leverage when the debt is settled IMO .

Thanks, Annis. I was somewhat confused by the wording in Ian's opening post but "Sam has agreed something" clarifies that and is absolute music to my ears

Like you, I can only hope neither party reneges on a handshake. This could be the eve of something VERY special in the history of Cardiff City FC and should be viewed by all with the positivity that it deserves

I dare say some on here will mock but to do so misunderstands the significance of the event and (in fairness to both parties) the goodwill that HAD to occur for ANY agreement to be made

This is not a time for recrimination; it is a time to celebrate the end of a sad situation and a time to LOOK FORWARD in the hope that certain 'promises' will now be instigated and OUR club can move toward a debt-free future

I salute BOTH men for their actions in bringing an end to the situation that nearly cost the life of the club itself :ayatollah:

Now THAT I can understand.

With just Langston sorted we are just MORE in the pocket of Tan and many wont want to rock the boat, but with debt to equity as well the campaign will see Tan as someone who has a lot to lose should he not listen.

Once it's sorted I'd like to think it will be the last time we ever hear of that charlatan. Though I very much doubt it.

You misinterpret my stance.

I am a die in the wool reluctant red. If we were talking administration to get back to blue then I'd say no. But the situation explained in this thread is one where we have hardly any debt as Langston were paid off and VT has changed his debt to equity.

You then have an owner that will need to recoup his money through sale or floating. An owner is not going to put a club into administration unless in debt, he loses all his money.

Yes but your forgetting the overriding reason that Tan has given for changing to red. As already said he expected that 25% of home support would not like the change and possibly may abandon the club but he felt that he needed top change to red to take advantage of the Asian market. Whilst the call for a return to blue may increase after the debts paid off do you really think he will just abandon his vision especially with the 25% of local support being replaced by new glory supporters. Tan is a businessman who is looking at the bigger picture and I don't think for one second that he wasn't expecting a blue backlash, as much as the protesters would like to believe otherwise

Re: Four offers on the table - Tan & Langston

Sun Jun 09, 2013 11:06 am

The rebrand was as hard to swallow for fans like me (a reluctant red) as it was for those who want to be Blue no matter what the consequences are.

But the reason why we are reluctant reds is because we wanted to see resolutions to matters like this one (the Langston Loan Notes) and the back of asset strippers PMG.

When all the rhetoric is put to one side those opposed to the rebrand have never explained how we can ever fund £15m+ to settle this debt, apart from entering administration/bankruptcy (where we really would be stripped of our identity as we would almost certainly come back as Cardiff City 2013 or something similar) and also with no honour as we would have resolved our debts 'Swansea style'

Cardiff City will one day be blue again but we have to accept that for now losing our primary colour is a price we have to pay for years of over spending money we didn't have.

That's why I think it is far better to give VT room to do his stuff and restore this club to financial security before seeking an all out return back to blue.

You are correct, of course, in your comments but it gets worse IMHO...

To date, there hasn't been a realistic 'backlash' regarding the colour change; it's mainly (but not all) been anonymous rhetoric and (given what you say above regarding a 25% allowance) I would suggest that Tan must be quietly happy at how easy it was to achieve in reality :(

So you are saying Tan WON'T just abandon his vision against the backlash of a blue protest. Toashack_1 said a protest would see Tan walk away and we'd be in administration. So which one is it?

If the scenario comes about that we are out of debt, VT owns the club and, as YOU say, he will not just abandon his vision, what is the problem with ramping up our want to return to blue? We are not risking the life of the club and possibly throwing us into administration.
