Gary O'neil now ex West Ham
Malky has him on his list, be interesting, to see if anything develops.
Hull and Reading also pursuing him.

Remember him comng to us on loan, was head and shoulders above everyone else in our team, would be a good addition to the squad.

I'd have him-always puts in a good shift and is good with it.
Sat Jun 08, 2013 9:27 am
Think we could be in the drivinf seat here aswell.. I seen him not so long ago saying to andrew taylor how he loved his time down here!

Class on loan before... but now? Hmm.
Sat Jun 08, 2013 9:31 am
Was a great loan signing, I know it was a few years back but he would still improve our current squad. Sign him up!
Sat Jun 08, 2013 9:40 am
Yes recall Carl saying something similar.
He was class when he was with us on loan and I feel he's the type of player that we are missing badly at present.

Would be a squad player rather than first teamer but experienced and always works hard. Would mean we have the following in midfield options
Wide - Bellamy, Noone, Conway, Smith
Central - Kim, Gunnarson, Whittingham, Mutch, O'neil, Cowie, Kiss
Although some of these could play wide if needed aswell
Can't see us having 11 midfielders in a squad of 25 and if any of the Ledley, Ince type rumours come true surely we are going to have to get rid of a few. So do we really need O'Neil
Sat Jun 08, 2013 9:51 am
Remember some of our midfielders are under 21, so don't count towards the 25

I've left Ralls out, Kiss is 22 and Mutch is 22 by the end of the year

In addition to the 25-man named squad, clubs can use an unlimited number of players aged 21 or under. According to the Premier League: "An Under 21 player is defined as one who is under the age of 21 on 1st January in the year in which the season commences. For the 2013/14 campaign Under 21 players will have been born on or after 1st January 1992."

So kiss and Mutch don't qualify then

Sorry, I meant to add that to the end of the cut & paste!
So that's another bonus for us.

It's not a bonus, it means Kiss and Mutch don't qualify as they were both 21 before the 1st January this year. So they both have to count against the 25. Joe Mason turned 22 in May aswell so he was 21 before 1st January and counts towards the 25 also
Sat Jun 08, 2013 11:15 am
Kiss was born Oct 90
Mason was born May 91
Mutch was born Dec 91

He might have left the club, but does anyone know if contract talks are stalled with WHU?
Last thing that was said was that he was in talks with the club, contracts arent instant so could probably still be sorting things out with that.
I saw the list of players that have been released was in the DM, guessing it was the same on here, included players like Danny Wilson who has signed for hibs?? i think
I would love Thomas Hitzlsperger though and i guess he is more gettable than alot on the list.

Free transfer - can't complain
Sat Jun 08, 2013 11:50 am
Would definitely have him back was quality when he was last here and he has lots of experience in the prem on a free its a no brainer really
Sat Jun 08, 2013 12:15 pm
He was brilliant when he was here on loan, at the time he was head and shoulders above everyone on the pitch every game.
However that was nearly 9 years ago.
Its not a signing that excites me if im honest.
Sat Jun 08, 2013 12:21 pm
Underwhelmed with this signing, West Ham fans seem to be happy he's going
Sat Jun 08, 2013 1:07 pm
Did well for west ham surprised he has been let go Bonus for us if we can get him
Sat Jun 08, 2013 1:14 pm
Would be an awful signing tbh
Sat Jun 08, 2013 2:28 pm
Not an exiting signing but by no means a bad signing. Especially on a free you cant conplain. I feel some fans think because we are in the prem we will/can sign huge players.

I don't think he would get in our team ?
Fri Aug 02, 2013 10:59 am
Just seen the on SSN:
"Sky Sources: QPR to sign former West Ham midfielder Gary O'Neil."
Fri Aug 02, 2013 11:07 am
His situation has been a bit of a weird one, he was released by West Ham but then I was sure that the he had agreed another deal to stay at Upton Park?
Fri Aug 02, 2013 11:14 am
One of the best players i have seen in a City shirt. But that was then and this is now.
If O'Neil isnt good enough for West Ham then he isnt good enough for Cardiff City
