City formation next year

Fri Jun 07, 2013 10:01 pm

Whilst it is traditional to play 442 could you envisage a different formation generally to ensure we have strength at the back and yet ensure our strength in midfield remains. In other sorts 3232. It is clear that most posters do not consider Turner to be in the frame at the start next year. However a word of caution. Malky has always said he is young and will be a legend for Cardiff City in time. As Hudson is nailed on to be captain next year Turner we must remember is big strong and quick for a big man. So could you envisage something like this? :

Marshall

Hudson Turner New

Gunnarson Whittingham

Kim Mutch Bellamy

Campbell/Maynard New

We will need a ball winner in midfield but we also need the quality and calmness of Witts once we have got it to give time for Kim Mutch and Bellamy to move forward.

Discuss. Blue sky thinking please :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

As much as i agree that Turner will be crucial for us next season, what the hell is that formation?

If Malky starts with no full-backs in any game ever i will wear a red shirt at the next game, that's how confident I am that would NEVER happen. :ayatollah:

As I said Gents - blue sky thinking. You don't have to play with full backs. You are allowed to play 3 at the back. You are allowed to play 2 deep midfielders in front of them for protection and you are allowed to play 2 forwards instead of one. As long as you have 11 players on the field it doesn't matter. A previous reply obviously cannot count. We're now in the a premiership and we have to adapt quickly. With many sides playing one up front do we need a back four when we can squeeze and press? Don't ask me what this means. It's not rocket science. :ayatollah:

Fullbacks in Prem are yoyos, basically 3 at back anyway (as one goes forward, one stays back). Would personally like us to play 3 at back, but I can't see Malky adopting it.

If i could pick a realistic team now, it would be...

Marhsall
McNaughton Hudson Turner Izaguirre
Gunnarsson G.O'Neil
Buckley Kim Bellamy
Rhodes

I must say I do like Rhodes and considering the players we have the team ethic and hard work commitment together with good youngsters in the background I would prefer to buy 3 quality players like Rhodes rather than 6 inferior payers.

It does not say Maynard OR Cambell what is there, is a forward slash, perhaps in this computer age OR has now become /
still no fullbacks though!
