That was one loophole that deffo needed to be closed. Absolute farce how watford owners were aloud to get away with that last season. Although I can't stand palace, justice was done when they beat them in the pl final

The owner will just give players he wants at watford a free transfer and sign them that way

They can't sign anyone without the permission of the league as they are under a transfer embargo until the end of August

Watford fan here.
Just to clear up about the embargo. We are allowed to sign players, we just have to have the transfers/paperwork all cross-checked by the FL to make sure the finances are all handled correctly after the misdealings of our former owner. That's all there is to it - there's no opinions involved.
The only reason we'd be banned from signing players is if we were in administration, and we certainly aren't lacking funds at the moment. It just gives the FL the chance to make sure the money is being handled properly.
It's an unusual situation. Hope this clears some of it up.

I can see this happening and said so to a few of my mates the other week. The other way around it is to free transfer between the clubs the pozzo family own, at the end of the day its not costing them any money to do this and they are simply transferring assets from one company to another. In effect then giving more talent more playing time (possibly from a smaller pool) which will allow players to be placed in the sop window are transferred out for a healthy wedge.
