EXCLUSIVE: Swans bombshell! Laudrup on the brink of leaving the Liberty over transfer fallout with chief Jenkins
By RIATH AL-SAMARRAI and SAMI MOKBEL

6th June 2013

Michael Laudrup could leave Swansea City as soon as next week over the transfer dispute that has pushed his relationship with chairman Huw Jenkins to breaking point.

The Dane is understood to have had only one conversation with his employer in the past fortnight and sources close to the 48-year-old have indicated that unless he quickly receives assurances of the significant financial backing he claims he was promised then he will make a decision on his future in the coming days.
Matters are expected to come to a head when Jenkins returns from his holiday in Portugal, though hopes are fading at Swansea of a resolution.

On the move: Michael Laudrup could leave Swansea by the end of this week
The stark developments will come as no surprise to the Swansea hierarchy, who are believed to have held an informal meeting last Friday to discuss the escalating situation.
There is a feeling within the club that the Laudrup camp could be trying to engineer a situation whereby he is allowed to join another club without the third party having to honour a £10million compensation clause that was inserted into the contract extension he signed in March.
But his representative, Bayram Tutumlu, has repeatedly stressed that Laudrup's preference is to stay at Swansea.

Up for the cup: Laudrup led Swansea City to their first piece of silverware in their 100-year history

Tensions have spiralled in the past fortnight and have not been helped by the apparent collapse of moves for Celta Vigo forward Iago Aspas and Saint-Etienne striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, two of Laudrup's favoured targets.
It is understood that in each case the player was willing to accept reduced wages compared to other offers in order to work with Laudrup.
But Swansea's reluctance to take a leap in spending – their existing transfer record is the £5.55million paid for Pablo Hernandez last summer, while Aspas would cost in the region of £8m and Aubameyang upwards of £10m – has meant the chance to clinch those signings has largely gone.
Tutumlu claims promises of a 'strong team' were made when Laudrup signed a one-year extension to his contract in March in the wake of Swansea's remarkable Capital One Cup triumph.
He is currently contracted to the club until the end of the 2014-15 season.
Laudrup's frustrations have also been increased by the club's scouting system, under which British-based players are monitored by the club's network and European talent is assessed by Laudrup's own team, headed up by Erik Larsen.
As Sportsmail revealed last week, Laudrup has been less than impressed by some of the British-based names put in front of him.

Small time club. Swansea miss out on Aubameyang yet Huw is happy to take his cut which he'll probably buy a nice house with somewhere.

I want Laudrup to stay! I think he's lost the motivation and hunger. If he stays the combination of Europa League football and a second season with the Swans will ruin them.

Laudrup made it clear a few weeks back that he felt the club's future in the Premier League was dependent upon the Swans "spending in the region of £200 million".

Where the hell are they going to get that from! Not a chance on them spending it even if they had it! :o

He never said it. He said for them to improve on 9th place they would need to spend £200m.

Don't care if he stays or leaves tbh

No, it shows that your missing the point of the article.

Yes, Canas signing is an indication Laudrup will stay but the main part of the article related to this thread is:

The signing will come as a welcome boost for Swans fans after numerous stories in the media suggesting a disagreement in the camp with manager Michael Laudrup over the level of transfer funds.
But Swans chairman, Huw Jenkins, said: “Myself, the manager and our recruitment staff are all agreed on the quality of players we would like to sign to help us remain competitive in the Barclays Premier League.
“We are continuing to work behind the scenes, in private wherever and whenever we can, to strengthen our squad.
“For that reason it’s disappointing that I have to respond to the speculation of unrest at the club after the fantastic season we have had.
“There are substantial funds available to strengthen our squad over the summer while we are also in the privileged position, because of the way we’ve managed our finances over the years, that we do not need to sell anyone to fund those new recruits.
“It goes without saying that some of our targets will sign for other clubs for different reasons. But that’s the same for every club. The important thing, and a factor that has always been vitally important for us, is that we sign players who want to play for Swansea City for footballing reasons. If not, then we move on to the next target.
“I think most people will agree that it is a policy that has served this football club, and more importantly our fans, well over the last decade.
“It is true that I have not sat down with our manager since the last game of the season against Fulham, but that’s because we have both been away on holidays at different times. It doesn’t mean we haven’t spoken because I’ve had numerous conversations with Michael over the phone and there's been no difference of opinion on our original transfer targets.
“We have built up a strong reputation over the last few years at Swansea and I believe we have gone about our business in the right way. We have to remain strong for the sake of our supporters and make sure this proud reputation is protected at all costs.
“A lot of hard work has been done to try and maintain and improve on the incredible journey we have had over the last 10 years. That work will continue.’’
