Have an edge over us with their location when it comes to transfers even though they are shit?

It's an interesting theory. However, I think money will speak volumes over location. They will certainly benefit more in the loan market I reckon.

Facilities will favour us... Monies may also favour us..
But if locations are the issue then Palace have the edge..

Agree with this , but Palace is a dump of a place

But it's the London thing that would attract them more

Exactly Xcasual, and we have to think, do we want players that would choose their club purely based on the London lifestyle?

That would be Malky's problem... And knowing what Malky is like, I can't see the problem ever arising to be honest..
If DJ were still here though....

I don't think there's much in it tbh. Cardiff is a nice vibrant place to settle for any player. Especially if they have children. Aslong as the player is willing to come down and have a look around before he makes a decision, then he may just prefer the more quiet layed back friendly atmosphere of cardiff.. add to that our better facilities with our stadium etc then I honestly don't think the "london factor" will have much of an impact on a players decision in joining palace over us. For the main part, it will be down to money. So if we can better or match what palace offer, Then I think any player with the right mentality that malky is looking for, will come to us

Not at all. Only thing where it could be an issue is fashion.
Cardiff is big for a night out and favoured by many - I've seen players of other clubs out with our players in town
Cardiff has an airport - The cost ain't going to bother players - if it does they do what we do and drive up
Properties cheaper in Cardiff than in London - get more for your money
Palace is in one of the worst parts of London, if not the worst IMO right by Croydon - any footballer with a brain would live in a tidier area of London and this would cause problems getting across London etc.
Cardiff is not far from Bristol or London if thats where they want to go to get stuff done - good links
Cardiff as a place as a whole is much nicer than the area of London, Crystal Palace is located. There's a reason Mark Hudson has joined Cardiff City, brought his children up as Welsh and loves it here. The working class pro's will come here and play passionately. The prima donnas and fashion obsessed fame addicts who fill the papers will go to London.
Let them go there. Palace are entitled to them.

I second or third that.

Another former Blackpool player that Holloway is keen to reunite with is David Vaughan. Currently at Sunderland, Vaughan was voted player of the season the last time he and Holloway worked togather in the Premier League.
The Sunderland Echo believe that if Paolo DiCanio could be prepared to let Vaughan leave for the right price, the midfielder would provide great cover for the Eagles.

In my opinion, London clubs have a huge advantage when it comes to loaning players from other London clubs. As much as a nicer area Cardiff is to Crystal Palace, players at London clubs are settled, they might have their kids in the local school, their wives might be happy and not want to move etc. So if ourselves and Palace both put in a bid for a Fulham player (as an example) on loan, why would the player want to come to us when he can go on loan to Palace and not have to move location?

Cardiff is a much more attractive club.

Agreed with you. But there has been players who like the London area and settled in well. Like Tommy Smith before he joined us, he was hoping he could stay around London.
But Cardiff is a great city and capital. If you look at the future of this club and the things going on off the field (not rebrand) then players would easily choose us.

its up to our team to sell the benefits or what package we can offer...
i.e. better stadium, training facilites, living quarters etc...
london will always hold an attraction for overseas players, but not always for home grown players.

I think palace have a huge advantage with foreign lads. None of the palace players will leave near the area, they will all commute from the nicer areas of London, happens for all the London teams, lots of west ham live in the Essex countryside,
Premier league players aren't worried about how much a house costs, bigger the better for a lot of them, it's something to brag about and with the housing prices as they are it could be a hell of a profit if they stay long term, and the married ones I doubt get much say when the mrs is looking. It also has so many airports that fly all round the world. So they can nip home in Europe on days. Cardiff airport struggles to fly to anywhere in Europe!
I know the commute for joe cole at Lille to his London home was a quicker drive from Lille than it was from Liverpool.
It's all about London in the uk. I'd bet that most people outside the uk and a lot in the uk don't know where Cardiff is, people in the uk might know its in Wales but couldn't get within 20mins putting a pin into a map.
