Everton chairman says one of the reasons he gave Martinez the manager's job was because he said he could break into the top 4.this is the manager who just took Wigan down.even moyes who i rate better than Martinez struggled to break into the top 4.somehow i just can't see it happening and i see them struggling next season.

Can't see it if I'm honest. Just can't see them overtaking spurs arsenal or even liverpool.. Who I think will be challenging for that 4th spot next season, and for a few seasons to come, Unless Kenwright opens the purse strings...BIG Time

He must have been promised some substantial funds to make such a statement. With clubs like Chelsea and Man City getting even stronger over the summer and rumours of Man Utd trying to bring back Ronaldo and Arsenal actually spending some money this year I think its a big ask. You also have Tottenham and Liverpool (if they keep Suarez and strengthen) to compete with.

I think what he probably meant was he will take Everton to the top 4 in a few years and Kenwrights words have been miss interpreted. But I may be wrong...

Yes Martinez took Wigan down, but from now on he will have alot more quailty and with his unique system something could shock us

got wigan to play attacking nice football but when it came to defending that was his downfall at wigan, wigan finished higher with shit football under jewell etc but hey hes got a fa cup and a team relegated lol
