Near the beach, lovely women, English food will cost you a premium but Bulgarian food and lager is very cheap. i.e. imported stuff as usual is expensive. Nice place to look around and great for the children.

Worst part of Bulgaria IMO though as its too British and higher prices than the rest of BG but thats because i've been going back and for for many years and I know the score. As a tourist destination its quality. Market stalls, shows in the summer on the coastline, the sea is good, you'll get nutters jumping off restaurants into jellyfish infested waters like its nothing and then swimming out, etc.

Im off out there for 6 weeks myself from mid June to end of July. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

PS. Travel from London if you can. Great deals usually. :thumbright:

I rank sunny beach as one of the best holidays I've been on .

Pros !

Beautiful country
Great weather , thunder and lightning storms in the summer over the sea is really something to watch even though its boiling its an amazing sight !
Cheap beer and food mostly cooked on outside BBQ stile grills in the restaurants
Very clean hotels
Loads of attractions , make sure you go on the day trip on the boats the views are stunning
Women are stunning
People are really nice and helpful
Very welcoming
Better than Spain/Cyprus/Greece etc
No need to go all inclusive because its so cheap your better off eating and drinking where you choose .

Cons !
Most meals are mostly stews or dairy based salad type meals . Try the outdoor grills they are amazing .
Be careful in the markets ( dont let the local gypsies put the monkeys on your shoulder because they are trained to steal your wallet from your pockets ) I'm being serious even though it sounds weird its true I saw it happen twice in two weeks .
Don't go to the clubs , Bulgaria is still very much run by mafia style gangs in the local towns , stay within the complex or tourist areas , the bouncers wear hand guns in many local clubs .
There is a hell of a lot of wasps/bees in the summer months but only around bushy/tree areas the beaches are fine .
The country is stuck in the dark ages , still see a few kids working on building sites helping there parents , health and safety hasn't reached this country yet .
There is a lot of wildlife , peacocks and large lizards especially .but very beautiful to see in the wild even though the noises they make are sometimes annoying
There is the occasional guy/guys with bears chained up in the less touristy areas who play a flute and whip the bear to make it dance for money  this can be quite shocking but its there culture so :?: depends on your opinion on that type of stuff .

I would highly recommend sunny beach as long as you have your wits about you and I am looking to go back myself in July .
Totally different to Spain /Greece etc
Would be great for kids as there are loads of waterparks and youngsters attractions but not so good for a pissup holiday as its a bit dodgy in the local areas where most of the clubs are .
Great place to visit though its a must see .
Hope that helps .

Its run by the Russian mafia, most hotels are huge and mafia owned, all market stalls selling the fake designer gear are mafia owned, most locals are controlled by the mafia and are to sacred to give you any trouble in the tourist areas as they may not be seen again !!!!!!!

So all in all had a good time stayed in the majestic hotel lovely place you guessed it mafia owned !!!!

this!!

dont bother with all inclusive, the food is shit in every hotel.. eat out is best.. unless you pay for one of the decent iberostar or riu hotels where the food is better.

Sunny Beach is the largest and most popular seaside beach resort in Bulgaria. There are lot of activities to do there. Sunny Beach has several bars, clubs, restaurants and casinos. It is a perfect place for a cheap and enjoyfull holiday.

own a place out there do you?

Re: SUNNY BEACH BULGARIA?

is it family friendly = NO

ideal lads holiday = YES

the blue jean white bag brigade come out around 4-5 pm and are everywhere...im talking pro's here

yes there are beggers, gypos, all that kind of stuff... yeah no more than any other place, but if your trying to avoid the
pros you run right into the beggars

if you want to get off the plane go right into the hotel and lock your self within the hotel complex for a week or 2 then yeah
it could pass as family friendly

so, while i was there yes there was families around and they were quite miserable to be there, men will get approached by pros
if they are with there wives and children! as said the eyes of the pimps are not far away sat in blacked out window cars and they
are obviously forced to approach anyone and everyone

uk mums i spoke to at the hotel about it were disgusted... the rep advised you donty have to venture into bar areas...but your
on holiday you should be allowed to venture anywhere you want

there was a family friendly run bar called kermits... no blue jean and white bag brigade allowed

but the minute you set foot outside i saw dads arm in arm with pros who were trying to coax them away from the families
shocking really lol

cheap food and drink, they dont like to barter for fake goods like in turkey had quite a bust up over trying that on
range of quality in the hotels... from 2-5 star... if you do go try and go for the higher end

lads holiday...yes, you will have one of the best holidays ever
nightclub called bonkers... thats all im saying on a family friendly forum

but no not for families in my opinion
nice place, but not for kids

nice place

I am none the wiser  Sunny Beach sounds like a cross between an 80s Trecco bay and a 90s Blackpool with the old Custom House thrown in :laughing6: :laughing6: :laughing6:

This is a good thing. The Mafia do what should be done and that is bring justice. I've been back and forth there for years and have spoke to them (they speak English, I speak Bulgarian) and they are good people. They are basically the police without any nonsense and don't bother tourists at all unless you cause trouble. They know tourists are their main source of income in the summer months and Brits, Americans, Russians and Germans won't be bothered at all.

They do a better job than the police in this country. 99% of the crime is mafia on mafia. The only bad thing about Bulgaria is the driving as they're off their heads and everyone thinks they're Vettel. I've seen some horrendous accident scenes over there.

Also in Sunny Beach be careful where you change money, this is also true in Nesebar as they will give you the useless old currency. Just use a bit of common sense as you would any country.

We own a place over there. There's more chance of you being stabbed or whatever in Cardiff, Liverpool or London. The mafia are some of the nicest people over there. Strange how so many Brits got the wrong perception of the country.

Recall an interview with one of the Kray twins. One claimed when they run London old women told walk alone at night. Our free society of today can't claim that.

There was a good write up on sunny beach in the sun a few weeks ago. They reckon its a wild partying place. Wouldn't mind going there myself.

Spot on. The police do nothing. It's why gangsters are massively into racketeering because they know the protection they offer will be loved. This is why the mafia associated companies in Italy and so on never fail. They're kept away from idiots ruining families meals and policed by the mafia. You step out of line and you're dealt with.

Young girls can walk the streets 1-2am in the morning there without being heckled or fear of being raped. I myself wouldn't walk around London at those times because of gang crime and so on. There's enough idiots in Cardiff City centre around those times let alone London.

Im not saying Bulgaria doesn't have its problems, it does and every country does but the perceptions are laughable. When I was younger and my father said about going there I thought it was a cold, gloomy, horrible cesspit and thats because of the Russian/Stalin/Communist rubbish I had drilled into me at school.

Its only when you visit these places that you are no longer sheltered and see the reality.

No just young kids like Rhys Jones being caught in drive by shootings, black lads being stabbed in London in nightclubs and gangs in Liverpool, Manchester and London running riot. If any person did that in Bulgaria they'd be killed off by the mafia and rightfully so. Much more respectful and family orientated over there.

Enough said. Brits are notoriously known for being alcohol abusing loud mouth idiots and getting violent because they cant handle a few lagers. Frigging embarrassing when in Europe they're drinking stronger stuff and don't get all worked up about it.

The police in this country are nothing more than her majesty's collection service and are far more interested in handing out parking tickets and speeding fines than doing real work and protecting the people.

It will be even worse when the Romanians are allowed to flock here in their droves.

I love it there just come back. I have an apartment there in the centre. I would recommend you don't go all inclusive as prices of pints of lager are 60p to 1.20p in the dancing bars at night. You can normally eat out for a few quid each. Cocktails in the condor bar are normally under £2. The bars and restaurants are 24/7 as the resort starts in june and completely shuts down at the end of sept because of the harsh winters. It is a very lively resort with a great golden beach. Nessebar is about 2 miles away and is a unesco heritage site. Ive been going regular for over 8 years. :D
I would recommend you try it :D

The bear was banned many years ago as too many tourists complained about it :ayatollah:
