Premier League clubs over the years:  Manchester United and Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool, Everton and Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham, Manchester United and Manchester City.  The list goes on and on and on.Those rivalries have given us some of the biggest moments in Premier League history—like Manchester United thumping Arsenal 8-2 a couple of years ago, only to lose 6-1 to Manchester City a couple of months later. There are so many moments to choose from that it would be almost impossible to list them all, and next season will throw up more magic moments for us to remember. But there's probably one part of the United Kingdom that is eagerly anticipating the announcement of the Premier League fixtures on June 19th. The part of the United Kingdom I'm talking about is Wales, as both Cardiff and Swansea will be a part of the Premier League for the first time since it was introduced over 20 years ago. Both Welsh sides have never played in the current incarnation of England's top division at the same time before, and there are Welshmen positively salivating at the prospect of these two bitter rivals going head-to-head in the Premier League next year.Starting with Swansea, they're a team who have spent the last couple of years aiming to consolidate in the top flight of English football, and they've had a remarkable degree of success, particularly over the last 12 months or so.Since appointing Michael Laudrup to replace Brendan Rodgers last summer, Swansea have gone from strength to strength. In their centenary year, they achieved a top 10 finish in the league and won the Capital One Cup, winning many admirers along the way for the brand of attacking football they played.Michu was arguably the bargain of the 2012-13 seasonAlex Livesey/Getty ImagesThe star of their show last season wasMichu. He signed for Swansea for a fee ofaround £2million—a relative bargain by Premier League standards.  As a relative unknown, he rewarded the Swans by scoring 22 goals for them in all competitions as they had their best season for quite some time.Things tailed off a bit for the Swans after their Capital One Cup success, which is understandable. Michael Laudrup will want to build on last season and push Swansea into a consistent, top-half of the table side.  Also with the added caveat of European football on offer, it wouldn't be surprising to see a raft of new faces arrive in the summer.Of course, Swansea won't be the only Welsh club playing Premier League football next season after Cardiff won the Championship, and with it, a place at English football's top table. After being bridesmaids for quite a few seasons, Cardiff finally got what they wanted last year—promotion to the Premier League. Malky Mackay's side were consistent throughout and deservedly won promotion.Cardiff earned their Premier League place by winning the 2012-13 ChampionshipMichael Steele/Getty ImagesDespite being inexperienced as a club at the top level, Cardiff have some exciting players in their squad like Craig Noone, Joe Mason and Peter Whittingham, as well as the experienced and controversial Craig Bellamy.Cardiff have enough financial clout to compete with clubs in the lower end of the Premier League table, like Sunderland, Norwich and Stoke City, so they will at least be competitive next season. Having the funds to compete is no guarantee of Premier League survival, as QPR found out to their cost (no pun intended) last season.Cardiff need to be shrewd in the transfer market and avoid paying huge wages and transfer fees where they can. They already have a tremendous team spirit so to me, it seems like Malky Mackay will try to add players who can fit in to, and not disrupt, the atmosphere he's spent the last two years building.Welsh fans, whether they're watching rugby, football or any other sport, are well known for being knowledgeable, passionate and noisy. They bring a special kind of atmosphere to any sporting occasion, and the Premier League is lucky to have both Welsh sides playing on the biggest stage in English football for at least the next season. These two clubs share an intense and fiery rivalry as it is, so with Premier League survival the aim for both clubs next season, it's going to be a pleasure to watch their rivalry take on a different meaning when the new season kicks off in just a few months' time.
