A good tutor will teach the very basics, how to hold your instrument properly and where your left hand should be to balance the guitar and access all the guitar. One or two sessions should cover that. Then yes, the internet has everything and anything, some great websites all for free. I'll fire up my old laptop one of these days and put some of the links up, some great sites with guys who do it to keep music live, none of this sign up with credit card shite, totally free or it was the last time but that laptop, if I've still got it hasn't been used for a good few years.
