Tans percentage stake in the club

Sun Jun 02, 2013 7:52 pm

According to TLG on the other board we shall not name, Tan's stake in the club in 2011 was 35%. If this is the case then the other shareholders total comes to 65% to make the full 100%.

It'd be interesting to know how much it'd take to buy that 35% from someone who knows more about the value of the club or how much a share costs as it stands. It's unlikely that Tan would sell up due to us being in the Premier League and the money that comes from but if he did get offended and decided to walk then is it an amount that can be mustered up by a supporters group or the community/council?

Obviously, a debt is owed to Tan because he's invested but if we were able to buy out his shares in the club and then put in place a payment plan to pay back what he is owed over numerous seasons + interest would this be possible?

Im not someone who knows a lot about how it all works in regards to Cardiff City FC but it'd be interesting if TLG, alfie, etc. could comment on this to set the record straight? Basically, all im asking is there a way Tan could be bought out by a fans group or the council save us and then elect a representative?

This would be the best for all concerned in my opinion as it would then allow supporters to vote on issues and the representative announce them. Not transfers and so on, that should be the manager and done in a professional capacity but issues such as colour, badges, etc. I cant think of a better outcome and if we did go that route we could even get the simpler bluebird in a circle badge back which is very easy for marketing.

Are you seriously suggesting we could raise enough money to buy out Tan?

This forum really needs a quadruple facepalm emoticon. Your IQ must be equal to the average temperature in Antartica.

No im not suggesting that Craig. Im asking if its possible and how much is Tan worth to try and attain what can actually be done. I know fans alone wont buy him out but other clubs have had help from the council. If our club is under threat I cant see the council just letting it die. Something will happen and we should explore all options. Im just trying to attain as many facts in regards to the ownership and Tans involvement as possible.

Interest and a pay off settlement. Obviously he'll want repayment plus more. Im just trying to look at alternatives to the Tan regime.

How is our club under threat?

I cant think of any council's that have helped out football clubs to be honest.

Well, Swansea Council built the Liability Stadium...

We also got the land for our new stadium for free from Council.

'If' being the important word there Craig. i.e. if Tan does walk because he gets offended.

I meant in the context Barnett was asking. When a club is in financial trouble and not wanting to let it die
