FAO Steve Borley

Sun Jun 02, 2013 9:22 am

Many times we have read " cut him open and he will bleed blue"

This was believed to be true and sold to fans.

You became the people's champion , you weren't viewed as other board members

Now the perception is you sold your soul.

The only test now is you sign the Bluebirds Unite petition as one of us or you run and hide from Tan and cover your arse for the £

What's it to be ?

I'm trying to rack my brains as to whether a board member of any UK company has ever committed business suicide with this sort of statement.

Some people have short memories. Steve kept us afloat for years before Tan arrived. If it wasnt for him we would have folded years before Sam arrived.

People should show him some respect and not be targeting him and trying to insinuate he isnt a true City fan.

Tan holds all the power, putting pressure on Steve isn't going to achieve anything as in reality he has little to no control at CCFC anymore when it comes to the major decisions.

Quote Borley from his recent press interview

I'm a fan I never have put money in to expect to get it back out.

It's not business to me it's the love of the club.

Bollocks is it pointless.

He's a fan - does he really support red or will he sign with other fans for a simple request to a return to blue ?

At the end of the day if you cut him open he bleeds blue

How old are you? Asking because if you know anything about business and his position you wouldn't ask him nor want him to.

Why bully people into doing this ?

You'd be better off getting on the other CCFC messageboards and other clubs, maybe even Glamorgan Cricket and also the rugby forums if you want to promote the cause and get more signatures.

Only somebody with an agenda against Steve Borley and possibly Cardiff City FC would have started a thread like this.

Not a Cardiff fan.

What a pathetic thing to say, How stupid do you think Steve is? You can't question his loyalty to Cardiff City.

Its posts like this by this Travis thing that make some fans very wary about getting involved with the Blue cause, when they attack people like Steve Borley, after all he has done for the Club.Keep it civil and you will generate much more support.

yet another poster demanding others sign their petition, this type of thing makes me more determined to have nothing to do with it.They reckon on over 2000 signitures I wonder how many duplicates and false ones there are is anyone verifying the signitures?

What a pathetic thread!!

Re: FAO Steve Borley

Sun Jun 02, 2013 12:01 pm

Ridiculous. Borley was arguably the one who got our shorts changed because he was who the petition was given to. He passed it on and then changes got made and it went to the vote. I know it was only the shorts but at least its what we wore last year when lifting a trophy and not a completely new two tone crap red. Yes we'd rather be blue, so would Borley, but in business when others own the majority stake you just have to go with the status quo. Borley could arguably sell his shares and im sure there are businessmen who'd love to buy into a Premier League club but hes too much of a Cardiff City fan to do that.

One thing I'll point out to you is, how bad would the rebrand be had Steve not been on the board? I can assure you that Steve and others do mention things but they dont have the final say. If our club was a completely Asian board all friends of Tan our club would be as good as gone. The fans would have no one high up to vent frustrations with. Tan wont listen. At least Steve will because he has respect for the fans.

I mentioned to him when the red kit came out 'the club has shit on every one of the fans today' - and his response 'cant argue with that really'. That proved to me how annoyed he is with the rebrand and so on. Steve will always bleed blue but hes not an idiot and he knows he cant just go public and speak out or it'll end up terribly down there. It would be disaster on the eve of our Premier League debut.

I have always done what I believe to be best for the club, its difficult being a director and a fan at the same time because they carry different emotions and responsibilities. Posts like this demanding people sign petitions are counter productive and running under the banner of against modern football etc and demanding the club retain its mascot the bluebird is also misleading because the mascot was phased out under Sam Hamman. Clubs don't chose nicknames the fans do, the club has a choice to adopt the nickname and we have not dropped it so why is it included in the petition.

Steve, Ive known you for many a year and I totally agree with you, it must be quite impossible sometimes to be a Fan and a Director.
Whats written above is not the Forums thoughts.

I will always want Our Blue back, Bluebirds Unite have totally got rid of the Slogans against Modern Football. I will make sure their group never harms our club, just remind fans about our True Identity. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Steve you'll always get people spouting nonsense like this.
the real fans know what you've done for this club and that's what counts.bring on the premier.

Steve, in your opinion would the petition carry more weight if it was only CCFC supporters?

Re: FAO Steve Borley

Annis, Its important people have a voice and an opinion but its also important that they don't seek to harm the very thing they hold dear I.e the club. We have come along way on an incredible journey with huge emotions and wild swings between hope and disappointment and in your own words don't want to see any more shattered dreams.

Steve borley--is tan actually aware that many fans want to see the colour blue return????or does he believe that all Cardiff fans are happy with the red????,surely the club has seen a drop in revenue in the club shop?

Re: FAO Steve Borley

Maybe you could do a Q&A session on here the first Sunday of the month between 1&2pm?sure the fans would love it Steve.

The club is aware of the views and it has not effected the club shop to my knowledge

Maybe do something from our new Cardiff City bar in the Romney Castle. Thinking of putting a computer terminal in the bar so fans can access message boards during games or game re runs

Re: FAO Steve Borley

Steve I know Tan doesn't want a red kit but are the club willing to work with the fans with a compromise at all , with any blue returning even as the shorts , as with the latest vote that the club basically stuck 2 fingers up to the fans(I don't mean this at you personally) when this was a perfect opportunity to compromise as Tan still would of had his red and we the fans would of had some blue back.
All summer now people are talking about the re brand again , I just think the club missed a trick here
