Why wouldn't we give this guy his chance in the prem? Feel he could get a hat full of goals for us, I know people will say he's only proven in Scotland but he's a goal scorer, and a very prolific one at that
Fri May 31, 2013 10:05 pm
He reminds me of David Goodwillie.
It'd be a no from me.
Fri May 31, 2013 10:09 pm
Will score goals in the PL for sure.
Fri May 31, 2013 10:11 pm
It's only a matter of time before he leaves Scotland, just think we could be the lucky ones to benefit
Fri May 31, 2013 10:29 pm
Good player love to see us sign him.
Someone chucks goodknobs name in the hat as comparison..ain't seen him linked with spurs but have seen Hooper linked with a move there. Would be a quality signing IMO
Fri May 31, 2013 10:31 pm
Reminds me of Shane Long for some reason in people doubting if he can make it, personally think he could.
Fri May 31, 2013 10:32 pm
No. He doesnt have a flair name.
Fri May 31, 2013 10:33 pm
Emile Sinclair!
Fri May 31, 2013 10:42 pm
Goodwillie.

Check their records out. No comparison.
And before someione mentions Celtic are better than Dundee United he scored 43 in 80 for shitty old Scunthorpe.

People forget things like this due to the fact they were shite.

He was great for Scunthorpe, and he's great for Celtic. But there's no way of telling if he would be any good in the Premier League, it would be a bit of a gamble.
Fri May 31, 2013 11:04 pm
Not worth the 7m plus fee
Fri May 31, 2013 11:24 pm
Chris Boyd is an example of why not!
2000–2006 Kilmarnock 153 (63)
2006–2010 Rangers 143 (101)
2010–2011 Middlesbrough 27 (6)
2011 Nottingham Forest (loan) 10 (6)
2011 Eskişehirspor 2 (0)
2012 Portland Timbers 26 (7)
2013 Kilmarnock 8 (3)
Goal ratio in Scotland - goal every 1.82 games
Goal ratio in Championship - goal every 3.1 games
3.5ish in the MLS
What would it have been in premiership lower half team, more than 3.1... yep
Hooper is at about 1.65 per game in Scotland and Scunthorpe....

Nope for me.

Scunthorpe yes, when they were mainly in league 1.

He will struggle big time in the prem,Celtic create chance after chance in the spl,the premiership is totally different,he'd only be picked up by a lower half side, who'd created about 30 percent of the chances Celtic do
Sat Jun 01, 2013 11:17 am
Nope much rather Jordan Rhodes.
Sat Jun 01, 2013 11:27 am
I have watched Hooper twice last season up at Celtic park & twice he was the stand out player. He has a touch of quality about him , I would love to see him down here
Sat Jun 01, 2013 12:53 pm
I'm pretty sure Norwich bid 8mill for him last season and got rejected, so no thanks. Better players out there for 8 mill than him.
Sat Jun 01, 2013 1:03 pm
I like him but not at the prices being mentioned
Sat Jun 01, 2013 8:28 pm
Honestly don't rate him... Ok in Spl and championship but not Prem or elite...
Rather Billy Sharp before Hoops
Sat Jun 01, 2013 8:30 pm
He's got Champions League up north and a guaranteed league title each year
Sat Jun 01, 2013 9:34 pm
We are 33-1 to get him .

he will also have to live with knowing he never really made it.

the word is up at Celtic from some mates in work is that he has a few modelling contracts that he is more consumed with..and often misses Training because of these. So, we need someone who is committed wholeheartedly to football, rather than furthering his modelling.

He seems to be friends with our Huds.. Read into that what you will.

i agree with this...
i also think he wouldnt be a bad signing, but the price quoted is too much in my opinion...

I'd be happy to see City sign Hooper.
Reminds me a bit of Lambert & Holt who have done well at this level.
Charlie Austin?
Wed Jun 05, 2013 4:02 pm
From watching the odd champions league game with him in, I think he would score goals in the premiership, but cant pass a ball 5 yards. Would have to be a passenger during the game, and just hope he scores enough to justify it.
But I think it's a gamble we need to take on that type of player.
