Contraversial post i know but

Thu May 30, 2013 5:58 pm

I will say it anyway. Us as Supporters do not deserve to say we are proud Bluebirds IMO. When Everton wanted to change there badge just slightly there fans went up in arms and then got there wish a backtrack and a apology.

We lost our whole identity but there was no up in arms there was not even a boycott of the Red but a total acceptance and embracement of the new kit. But there is now "a see the club is listening and consulting with the fans" Bullshit on what colour shorts we will wear !! Black, Red, A different shade of red, white, :o No the Club are playing our fans for fools and we jump straight in.

They can now officially say they consult the fans cant they

But Everton hadn't faced multiple winding up orders and were not on the brink of being the next Pompey, we were.

If the rebrand had happened when the club was in a more financially sound position things may have been different, I guess we will never know

Re: Contraversial post i know but

Thu May 30, 2013 6:08 pm

What will happen nukes -is the fans will vote for the black shorts.
subconciously, they are used to it now.

He can then say we voted for the exact rebrand that he'd created 'genius'!

we have had many shit kits but i would have thought that they would have thought this one through - means we will be seen by millions in a blue stadium with fans wearing blue.
The top, badge and shorts look so cheap and stock designed. We are one of 20 teams in the biggest domestic league in the world FFS.
Tan will look an absolute tit and he is splitting this club in two.

I would comprimise on red if we had some blue in our kit, horts and piping on top and socks.
What i cant get is the full read or red and black and that cack of a badge - fuckin screwballs.

we are safer now that we have every been financially (with parachutes to come) lets keep it tight on cash and f**k him off.
the club was here before me and hopefully after me - noboday has a right to shit on tradition.
change can only be made by consultation and agreement with fans.
NOT by one mans mood swing.

Everton are a footballing institution

They've never been out of the top flight and in the 80s and 90s when hey were winning titles and European trophies in front of 50,000 we were lucky to average more than 4,000

The majority of Cardiff City fans first saw us in the cup final 2008. It would be impossible to get 20,000 people here to sign a petition like they did

There's a long list on why you can't compare the two. We're a progressive club that one day could compete with them, but anyone who compares our situation to theirs is naive

Re: Contraversial post i know but

Sorry but it does not matter if a club has always been in the top flight or League 2 or non League. The Club still means as much to that fan. Especially the lower league ! More dedicated. We should not of just rolled over and embraced it. So wrong

And now? Is it still red or dead? Or will the vast PL windfall finally strengthen the fans position?

Yes Gavin we will never know and it is a matter of opinion if we were another Pompey. I find that hard to believe as our main man would say he would look for new investors.

It will strengthen the fans position Alfie boy. We all know that so in a way we are not in a Pompey.

I'm just looking out now for those who supported Tan last season are now going to become back stabbers. Tans not stupid and he will see that so expect him to dig his heals in.

Re: Contraversial post i know but

The only way Vincent Tan would of made made money was by getting us in the Prem. It was an empty threat and our fans fell for it. Vincent Tan would not of thrown his money away, that is for sure.

Fair point, but the harsh truth is the majority of our current support know absolutely nothing about how long we played in the lower leagues for. From what I could tell, a large percentage of the die hards from those days did boycott the club, but when we now boast 25,000 when in the year 2000 we struggled to get 3,000, then that's lots more new fans who aren't 100% bothered over a colour

Bang on mate.

I can fully understand people not wanting to give up their football fix but not one single item of red gear should have been sold.

The fact that so much red has been shifted is the real embarrassment.City 'fans' willingly taken part in the destruction of their own clubs identity.

very true

Our hard core of 'historic' loyal/timeserved fans are around a quarter of the current home gate now.
most of us went in the 80s/90s for the craic and the bother!!
we could never mass ranks like everton against a club decision in unison.

this is what other teams fans fail to understand why we havent played up about the rebrand etc in large numbers

Herein lies the problem mate. I've stuck around the same as you but I respect those who decided to quit. I know exactly where they're coming from, but my tipping point is a bit more tolerant. Hats off to the Bluebirds unite but until Tan leaves, then I can't see us getting our rightful colours back yet. For those who still go but hate the rebrand(the majority)then next season wearing the blue, flags, songs etc will be as important a protest as moaning about red on a message board

Very true, but their statement said that it was too late to change the badge for next season. Just a promise of a consultation before 2014/15. There had also been some fans' group involved in choosing the new badge, along with the marketing team.

This is what I hoped for last season but it did not materalise. It is the main reason I did not renew but with this BU raising well I will judge the situation again come the new season.

Re: Contraversial post i know but

Don't worry about the rebranding, it will only be temporary! What matters is that blue remains the away strip and The Bluebird stays on the badge. Shankely and Revie changed the strip of their teams although not to the same extreme. Temporary may mean many years but at least it is the colour of Wales. It is worth it if Tan delivers, Cardiff City is a great football team not a colour. This sort of thing goes down in a football clubs folklore.

What I don't understand is the people who are so called hardcore have stayed with the club though thick and thin. We have had court appearances, even chairman who take hundreds of pounds a month out of the club, but they still when to the game and didn't say anything. But now Tan as changed to red but has paid the bills, they decide its too much and don't go anymore.

I'am all for a protest to return to blue, but who was worst for the club overall ridsdale or tan?

Nukes.... Everton fans acted with hours/days of the badge changes, apart from 3-400 outside the Cardiff Castle the backlash on our situation was to be honest, insulting to CCFC.

with 1000s of fans waiting for tickets, it's not had the impact anyone would want.

I just hate the statements like, you rolled over, you sold your souls... It's an insult to fans who have reluctantly accepted the red and maintained there support in CCFC.

Nope I'm fully in support of the club and grateful for what Tan has done, sure I'd rather play in blue but the red is not that bad. Much like you must be if you still have a season ticket, giving him the support and money. Sorry but I find it embarrassing how you sit here speaking on behalf of all fans with your season ticket in your back pocket, rather than complaining why don't you lead by example and actually protest? I don't see how it is fair for you to portray yourself as big against the red and then use the inclusive 'we', which I assume is for all fans, therefore slagging off the people who have actually done something worthwhile to protest. But I'm sure they are truly grateful for you 'keeping the Blue alive at games', because that isn't an excuse to give him money is it?

But if you supported when hitler was in charge, you could live through stalin. People stuck by the club when the club was shit and chairman was ripping us off right left and centre.
