' City make offer for Striker '

Is he the next Joe Mason?

Tyler Harvey is a 17 year old striker from Plymouth.

He is a player who is attracting interest from several clubs including City.

I understand that we have tabled an offer of £80k for Harvey but the offer has been rejected, Plymouth FC are seeking £200k for the player.

Another player that I said has signed for us is Gary Lavery, I understand that the reason there has been no announcement from our club is that there is a hold up regarding the compensation to Glenavon for Lavery.

I am assured that the deal will be finalised though.

The player and Glenavon have tweeted that the Lavery is a Cardiff player but strictly that is not true.

I noticed when you announced it that Lavery had put 'cardiff city player' on his twitter bio, but later removed it

Have just spoken to a friend of mine down in Plymouth - an Argyle season ticket holder for 10 years.

I've seen Harvey play once, but not enough to offer an opinion. He, on the other hand, says the lad is pretty nippy and has plenty of potential.

Apparently Argyle turned down a £750k bid from Aston Villa in January for both Harvey and Christian Walton, a 'keeper who eventually made a move to Brighton.

It sounds as if £80k is a silly bid which would never, ever have been accepted. It's probably best we try and get the lad signed up before sending him back to Argyle for some first-team football.

Carl and Annis have a few contacts close inside around the club.

If he has news then it is nice to know what could be or not could be going on. :ayatollah:

Hopefully he will choose us and having Mason here might help :ayatollah:

I have to say this is such a misleading title thread. This can be seen by the aount of replies 4/5 to the amount of views, over 5000. I think we all clicked hoping to see a little more than just an offer to a League of Ireland youngster who will not play a part this season.

You claim to be, until what you suggest doesn't happen. Then you make no mention of it.

It is terribly misleading isn't it!

We have made an offer for a league two striker and the headline says 'City make off for striker'

I will have to have a word with Iain or Malky and tell them the fans don't want these players, they only want the big names but if you insist on putting in bids for 'nobody's' then I will not report it on the forum.

Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay bids for striker Tyler Harvey -

After the success of Joe Mason, Malky Mackayt is hoping to add another Plymouth Argyle teen striker to his ranks this summer

Malky Mackay is eyeing up a new striker
Cardiff City are on the track of a second Plymouth-born striker.

Joe Mason has proved a hit for the Bluebirds since making a £250,000 move from Plymouth Argyle to the Bluebirds two years ago – and now 17-year-old goals ace Tyler Harvey is the new target.

City are reported to have made an initial offer of £80,000 for Harvey, who scored on his full first-team debut for Argyle last season.

He played alongside former Cardiff players Darren Purse and Warren Feeney for Argyle, making 10 League Two appearances in total.

“Tyler’s a good kid who burst into the first team at Argyle and scored in his first full game,” says Feeney. “He is calm and composed on the ball and has all the attributes needed to make the grade at a high level.

“He would be great for Cardiff, but my feeling is that he should stay with Plymouth for another season and gain more League experience. He has the potential to become a really good player.”

Plymouth want at least £200,000 for Harvey, who would join City’s under-21 development squad next season if they agree a fee with the Devon club.

Former Ivybridge College student Harvey has been watched by Cardiff, Aston Villa, Everton, Southampton, West Bromwich Albion and other Premier League clubs, who have all had scouts at Argyle youth team matches.

City manager Malky Mackay and head of recruitment Iain Moody are working to strengthen City’s first-team squad for their Premier League debut season, while they are also working with Academy manager Dick Bate to bring in young players capable of developing over the next few seasons.

Harvey is one target, while Mackay’s staff are also close to signing 16-year-old Belfast-born striker Gary Lavery from Glenavon FC in Northern Ireland. Lavery and Glenavon FC have already tweeted that the young striker is signing for City, but a deal will not be completed until a compensation package is agreed.

The move for Harvey is at an earlier stage and City could get go in with a new bid after the success of Mason in the last two seasons.

I think people thought the same when malky got a certain joey mason for peanuts from plymouth, and he turned out to be a star
I think its great that the club are also focusing on youth and players for the future
