New kit - feedback to the club thread

Thu May 30, 2013 6:31 am

Due to the bad feedback from any people about the new kit announced yesterday,I think it may be a good idea to offer the club some constructive and polite feedback from our members. Perhaps if people politely give their opinions here, I could send a link to the thread to the club to review.

I will obviously delete any posts that are distasteful from the thread before I lock it and forward it to either the club directly or a member of the supporters trust.

Surely this would be a more constructive course of action then simply creating multiple threads on the same topic?

Heres my opinion,

First and foremost I'd like to see a return to our previous blue colours, although that doesn't seem to be an option so my opinion on yesterday's kit is as follows:

The two tone effect on the shirt and shorts, whilst fairly original doesn't really work, the two tone on the shirt looks ok to me, it just the shorts that are an issue, perhaps a colour change on the shorts, perhaps to black or white would be a good addition to the kit.

Other than that I thinks it's fine, shame the club crest didn't get an update as you suggested it would though.

Don't mind the top, the shorts are dreadful, change them to white and ill be happy.

Like i said in another thread its about what players are playing in this kit that concerns me.

I did post but its pointless they won't listen or even read this tbh .
They obviously don't care about the fans feelings
At the most they will change the shorts but I doubt it if there allready ordered we will wear them .

I think the template for the top needs to be worked on, IMO I prefer last years top template(not the colour). The shorts do not go well with the top and socks, I think they should be the same colour or black. I would rather it to be blue, but if we have to go with red I think the red is too bright, I preferred the shade of red last year. The badge should really be altered and potentially lowered.

The fans are the beating heart of Cardiff City so please in future consult with us about any changes to colour, badge and kit.Without the fans there is no club.

I know we won't change to blue ad a home kit but come on city at least make the red kit look decent or bare able to look at

The shorts are terrible. Whoever suggested two different shades of the same colour like that needs help, it doesn't work in the slightest, surely anyone can see it looks terrible? Who every picked that for city need sacking or moving to another department away from kit choices.
Either change the shorts to same colour red as the top or get shorts in a completely different colour.

At the moment we look like s pub team who forgot shorts and borrowed someone else's and had to go out with a shirt and shorts that clash, embarrassing.

football clubs are all about identity, and our identity is blue. Simples

Re: New kit - feedback to the club thread

Gavin, once again like last season, there has been no thought or time put in to our kit designs, badge etc.

But if I am totally honest it's got to be BLUE for me end off ? That is our Identity. :ayatollah:

Re: New kit - feedback to the club thread

I appreciate the club doesn't really care about its supporters, sorry customers. If they did they would have been consulted about the original change from blue to red. There was also an opportunity to passify some fans by including blue on the new home strip - blue trim, shorts etc. But again no, we went with completely random red and black colours.

I'd imagine if you want to get some of your british customers back on side, you change the awful maroon shorts to blue. Then in the following season change back to our traditional blue home kit. I suppose it depends on how well sales to go to your Far East customers or if you have some investment from that region as they like red.

Change the maroon to black and it will look good :ayatollah:

May I suggest, if we want to go for something special & different, a kit similar to Spain in World Cup 2010.

Image

Blue shorts would be a olive branch to a lot of disenchanted fans and the yellow trim would also nod to a traditional colour of the club. It would look unique and Spain always make it look pretty snazzy. Hopefully we can start playing like them as well!!

Can someone like Karl Payne who im sure could quite easily get a good portfolio together of various kit and badge designs try and get an audience with Tan, i dont mean Simon lim or Steve B. A proper meeting one day, before a game or something just to show him some designs the fans can come up with

With the risk of repeating what has already been said can we 1st and foremost have some justification why we cannot have some sort of blue on the tops or shorts? The rebrand has been are to take and in my humble opinion if VT took the decision to change the white on this new kit to blue and changed the shorts to blue then he would win over a lot of the anti red brigade. I am not anti red by any stretch of the imagination but my preference would be blue.

My feed back of the kit:
I can see the idea and I even admire the fact that we are looking to be different but surely when they presented this to the board someone had to say " it doesn't work". As our 1st season in the PL we need to make a statement of intent but this is just not what we at looking for. There is no club that has red top and blue shorts. VT would win battles on 2 fronts. 1. Individuality 2. Get the anti reds on side ???

Get rid of the go faster stripes.

The shorts have got to change, they simply do not match the rest of the kit. Please give us blue shorts and yellow trim, its a small compromise but it would mean so much.

Over 400 signatures, some have voiced their opinion:

'Agree. While I am not a fan of the Red full stop, let's not be a total joke in the football world'

'terrible kit,i'm still in shock.can we change to last years please'

'Needs to be changed to a more professional design. This two tone design is a disgrace.'

'Change the shorts to white or blue'

'The red is bad enough, but to produce a kit like that is embarrassing.'

'This is a truly unforgivable abomination. I would rather wear the skin of a poisonous tree toad than this.'

'I have to agree. I am not one who objected to the 2012/13 kit; in fact I found it gave the team a dynamic that contributed to its outstanding success.. But the 2013/14 kit looks as if someone has rummaged around in a laundry basket and put on anyhting as long as it was red. Even the 'red' looks washed out and that it was not the first time the kit has seen the bottom of the basket'

'Black ,or white shorts would be acceptable. Not those hideous red ones . Even our skipper looks embarrassed wearing that outfit.'

' I can just about handle the colour thing ! but the kit looks like a Sunday league kit'

'we need a much better looking kit, last seasons kit design was so much better than what has been presented.'

'Very dissappointed, was expecting the kit to be ALL the same colour, would prefer us to be blue, but I have accepted the colour change, but please change the shorts to the same colour red, or black as last season. This is not a rant, just a perception from somebody that has loved his football club for 50 years, please don't make us look stupid.'

'I will never be completely comfortable with the re-brand. but this kit is an abomination, please correct this'

'If you're going to have shorts that don't match the shirt why not make them blue to please some of the fans'

'The shorts are horrible, change them to black or the same shade of red'

'Honestly the worst kit, and worst badge I have ever seen. So embarrassing just as we're going into the prem. BOTH need to change NOW.'

' just need the change of shorts, shirt is reasonable'

' totally agree with this. would prefer the blue back. But we've got to be realistic about it. the shorts are absolutely disgusting'

'This kit is the most revolting I have ever seen! It makes us look like refugees from the lost and found locker!'

'Take a leaf out of Everton's book. Consult the fan base. We're here forever.'

' Watford fan wishing Cardiff the best in the premier league'

Agree with your comments. But it has to be black shorts (white looks like Man Utd). Al least the black shorts and the red (from last year) looked compatible and different to other clubs. This kit looks like it was all that was left in the shop for the local pub team to use.

PS: Get rid of Puma, as using colour blind and clueless people to design for them is not good business practice.

Blue shorts or blue on the red kit. No white shorts and red top cos we will then look like man united b team

No one gives a shit whether we look like Man Utd. Had we wore out traditional colours would be people be complaining we look like Everton? No, teams have similar schemes all the time. I'd rather a similar scheme that looks decent than a unique scheme for all the wrong reasons.

The obvious can we return to blue has to be put in but as for the forseeable future we will be wearing red sort the shorts out. The two tone effect doesnt work, a change to black or white would be better maybe even look at blue. :ayatollah:

Shorts have to change , as a compromise I wouldn't mind seeing Blue shorts and for the away Blue top red shorts this way we get more Blue and so does tan on the away kit win win as a comprise

Re: New kit - feedback to the club thread

They should make the shorts white or black at least so there's some change of colour and everything isn't completely red

Or even better go back to blue :malky:
