Could Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay make a bid for Albert Adomah following Bristol City's relegation from the Championship?
Possible Cardiff City target Albert Adomah
Ghana winger Albert Adomah has been linked with a “cut-price” £1m move to Cardiff City.
Bristol City flier Adomah has long been regarded as one of the most talented players in the Championship with his sprinter’s pace and ability to beat a man.
And with the Robins recently relegated to League One, it is inevitable that Adomah is on his way out of Ashton Gate.
A £2m price tag had been slapped on the former Barnet player previously but, with Robins boss Sean O’Driscoll now preparing for life in the third tier, it is believed an offer of around £1m might be enough to land the 25-year-old.
Reports in his native Ghana said the reduced price for Adomah has drawn interest from Bluebirds’ boss Malky Mackay as he looks to build a squad ready for the demands of the Premier League.
Crystal Palace had a £1m offer rejected in January and are expected to be in touch again following their promotion to the Premier League.
Palace are set to lose Wilfried Zaha to Manchester United this summer, although the Eagles have not given up hope of keeping the England international at Selhurst Park on loan next season.
Speaking on his future in January, Adomah said: “It’s not down to me whether I go.
“At the moment, I’m happy at Bristol City.
“It’s in the club’s hands.”
Adomah was linked with a move to Swansea City a couple of seasons ago but that failed to materialise as the Swans were put off by the £2m-plus fee quoted at the time.
But Adomah is now certain to move on and Mackay saw for himself last August what he can do when performing at his best.
The winger ran riot as the Robins beat the Bluebirds 4-2 at Ashton Gate, the consistent Andrew Taylor suffering one of his most uncomfortable afternoons of the season.
Adomah was born in London, but qualifies to play for Ghana through his family history and so far has nine international caps and one goal.
He featured for Ghana in the African Cup of Nations in January where they finished fourth after losing out to Mali in a third-place play-off.
Adomah began his club career at Barnet where he made 120 appearances before joining Bristol City on a free transfer in July 2010.
He has since made 126 appearances for the Robins and fired 17 goals in the process.
Seven of those came last season during what was a turbulent campaign at Ashton Gate.
Meanwhile, Hull – who were promoted alongside Cardiff last season as Championship runners-up – have turned George Boyd’s loan deal into a permanent two-year contract.
The 27-year-old Scotland international joined from Peterborough in February and was available on a free transfer after his contract expired at the end of the season.
Boyd made a big impact upon his arrival at the KC Stadium, scoring four goals in five games in March to win the Championship player of the month award.
Prior to arriving at Hull, Boyd was expected to sign for Nottingham Forest in the January transfer window but the move fell through due to an “inconclusive eye test” – much to the frustration of then Forest boss Alex McLeish.
Hull boss Steve Bruce is understood to have a transfer budget of up to £15m, with a goalkeeper the next priority for him.
Another loanee, Fulham’s David Stockdale, ended the season as the club’s No.1 ’keeper.
But Bruce is believed to be unwilling to meet the Cottagers’ £3m valuation and has been linked with Leicester’s Kasper Schmeichel and Aston Villa veteran Shay Given.

There is truth in this one, Malky tried for him before when he was at Watford.
One of my customers lives in Long Ashton and is a neighbour of Albert's and he said to me last week that us and Palace are interested in him.
He would rather move to us as he wouldn't need to move house as he's just over the bridge.
Personally i think we dont need him and he's no better than we have already got.

For 1 million defo! Quick and strong and can give Full backs a problem. A bit under whelming tho, would rather pay 3 mill more and get Bolasie/Phillips

For 1 million you cant go wrong really, one for the future and he definatly has talent, he destroyed taylor at ashton gate. He will only mature in skill and value and cardiff would make money if he was ever sold on buying at a cut price 1 mil

Agree with the above. Got to worth a pop at a million.

Did you not see what he done to use at ashton gate? He also scored 7 goals last season and did not play that many games, and i doubt it was his fault bristol went down it was because the rest of the team were shit

In my opinion we don't need to sign any African Internationals because you lose them for up to 6 weeks every January.
African Cup of Nations.

Headless chicken.Hope theres no truth in this.

People rate any winger these days. He is rubbish.

He doesn't fit the Malkys bill......
Tue May 28, 2013 10:38 pm
We were linked with him for a while. Looks cumbersome at times and he's at his right level in the championship. Wold be a bad buy for a premiership club.
