At least they have signed someone, it's a long summer ahead but the club need to start looking for recruits sooner rather than later.

No they don't. It's much more important we sign the right players not the players who are available early on.

We didn't sign Noone, Maynard, Connolly, Smith or Bellamy until after last season had started and they didn't turn out too bad

In the Premiership it's even more important to bide your time as some very good players become available late on in the window which is why the vast majority of deals go through in the last two weeks of August. Plus those that aren't up for sale but need regular games will be allowed out during the loan window.

I'm sure Malky and all of us would love the squad to be complete by the start of pre-season training but this year, more than ever, getting the right people in will be the key.

There is no "Loan Window" for Premier League clubs and ALL transfer business has to be completed during the summer and winter transfer windows.

Plus we have to name our 25 man Premier League squad on 1st September so whilst we can sign players until the end of August we really need to get the business done as early as possible.

Good point about the loan window, I still can't get used to this Premiership thing :ayatollah:

However, I would still be amazed if we weren't still chasing targets right up to deadline day if they are the people Malky treally wants :malky:

Malky has already said he'd love to have everyone with him when they go away but knows that it just ain't going to happen that way.

Boyd now or Gomis on deadline day ................... mmmmmmmm :laughing5:

Hull havent been any quicker than us. He'd already signed for them permanently in February. It was because the transfer window was closed that the deal until the end of the season was a loan.

Hull City: George Boyd signs two-year contract after loan spell

Hull have completed a permanent deal for on-loan midfielder George Boyd.

The 27-year-old, who joined the Tigers from Peterborough in February and has now signed a two-year deal, was out of contract at London Road.

The Chatham-born Scotland international scored four goals in 13 games as Hull won promotion to the Premier League.

Boyd was Peterborough's record signing when he moved from non-league Stevenage in 2007 and his 297 appearances came across all three Football League tiers.

In an ideal world we would like all our business done early, but it does not always work that way. Malky will use patience and not panic buy - that's vital. A player might be brilliant, but if he does not fit into your managers work ethic then he'll identify someone else who is. He's obviously got all his targets lined up, but the difficult part is to actually get them. Some will take longer than others so be patient!

Good Championship player, but we had better, Hull will go down with signings like that IMO, unless they change and start signing better players.

The test is would you what him to play for us NO

Would you be worried about him playing against us NO

You are talking rubbish. While I agree that a better player may come along if we wait but can we take that risk? What if they don't become available, we will be left with a championship standard player with an even worse back up. This is why teams shouldn't be doing there business up until deadline day. Granted it's only May, we have plenty of time but lets not wait until August to sign players.
