A large number of german fans have told of their disgust at the surroundings and lack of facilities around the Wembley stadium. Many thought the stadium was nice but that's where the praise ended. One german fan even had the cheek to say the area resembled a f*cking bomb site!!! It was probably his grandfather who dropped the bomb in the first place!!!!! Mind you it is a major shithole to be fair.
Mon May 27, 2013 11:48 am
You can't really argue with that . The ground is immense but everyone knows the area in general is a shit hole . Nothing there . However as only 20 mins on tube from central london not much of an issue

They're totally right.
At Wembley last year, many Liverpool fans were saying how wonderful Cardiff's infrastructure was whilst Wembley was being rebuilt - everything close by & great amenities. They even said they preferred Millennium Stadium to Wembley.

They're not wrong at all. Wembley's a shit hole!

Yeah I've spoken to lots of fans who loved it when the games were held in Cardiff.Having it all back at Wembley is a backwards step in many peoples eyes.Millennium stadium is a better stadium as well.!!

The millennium day experience pisses all over the wembley day experience for me. I bet 90% of people who have visited both stadiums will say the same thing. Just an all round better day, from the location, to the atmosphere generated, and the way fans are looked after. Quite remarkable For a stadium that only cost around 120mill. Only thing that let's it down is the pitch. But I'm sure that can be solved with a few magic lights and a bit of artificial fibres mixed in. Every pole on the subject I've read on football messageboards, the millstad always seems to come out on top by a long way

I think wembley is a much better stadium than the millennium to be honest. The rear of the bottom tier is like watching through
A post box. Mill stad slightly overated. People only like it so much because its smack bang in the middle of a bustling city centre, unlike wembley in the middle of an industrial estate.
Mon May 27, 2013 1:23 pm
I went up there for the full wekend for the Liverpool game, obviously drinking in London was great, but on wembley way itself it was garbage, did anyone else go in the outside drinking area provided by Premier Inn, large beer were £8 a go! shocking prices but we all paid through lack of other options.
Mon May 27, 2013 1:36 pm
Iv been to wembley a few times for cardiff games and I have to say i agree with ze germans. Wembley as an area is a dump, 2/3 shit pubs in walkin distance of the stadium. The stadium isnt even that good, compared to the millenium stadium id go for the millenium all day long. And cardiff is a great place for people to visit with loads of gd restaurants and realy gd pubs with great attractions such as cardiff castle
Mon May 27, 2013 2:05 pm
Although "glanmor's gap" adds a bit of character to the millstad. I'd love to seem them getting around to completing that part of the stadium and taking the capacity to over 80k. It makes the stadium look slightly odd from the inside and out. Would also be nice if they got around to building the media center, or what ever it is we need, so we can bid for the championsleague final etc. Crazy that a stadium like ours hasn't hosted a champions league final or europa final, when stadiums like the 50k aviva have
Mon May 27, 2013 2:34 pm
i hope i never have to go to wembley again in my life. i hate the whole place. With the MS you have 300 licenced premises within a mile, how many does wembley have? 5 maybe? what a joke! I've spoken to many liverpool, united, stoke, sheff weds and a few others who loved coming here, they loved the steepness of the ground making it more intense.
I remember listening to twats mainly from London moaning about the traffic after games at the MS, saying the roads were clogged up and im sure they were so why leave straight away? and funnily enough i took us 5 hours to get back to cardiff after the playoff final, 3 of which getting out of london itself and on the way it took 5 hours and we had to run the last mile just to arrive in time for KO..... so whats that about then eh?
Mon May 27, 2013 3:04 pm
The MS is way better than Wembley.
Walking distance from train station.. you're basically in the centre.

Not strictly true , the infrastructure , in particular the traffic getting in and out of Cardiff was criticised heavily by the fans on the day.
But I have to agree that Cardiff puts Wembley in the shade.

That's not what they were saying to me.

found it just as bad getting out of Wembley to be honest... Or any other big event/occasion.
I happen to agree with them on that.

Last Wembley game I made was Blackpool. Shit stadium, shit game, shit result, shit train ride home and a shit week.
I've been in university and any big game is around the time of my exams or assignments so really hard to go, not that I miss Wembley. Went to the Carling Cup semi vs Palace at their ground and I just think London as a whole is a urban dive. There is no culture what the Germans are used too and its just a concrete mess. Harsh but true. Walking back to Croydon for the Hotel from Selhurst was a tale in itself - riot van, taxi, bus, police car, riot van, police car, taxi, bus, car, car, riot van, etc. London's in a terrible state and I for one am happy I dont live there.
People slate the Mil Stad but even after the Blackpool game we had to wait in a massive queue for the train and it took hours to get home, felt like an eternity. The Mil Stad the Germans would have been impressed with because of all the good bars around the area and the in the thick of it feeling. Wembley feels like its been purposely put there with Wembley Way and so forth to aid the police/stewards and keep some distance. Yes there are pubs but the other sides around the stadium are a disgrace. I remember walking up Wembley Way, coming down the other side and there was all police horses and everything and we were just having a drink with all Blackpool fans before the game and the old bill just had to stick their nose in.
The police forces in England could learn one or two things from South Wales Police to be fair.

Personally they should bring either the FA Cup Final or League Cup to the Millenium and the one at Wembley.
Mon May 27, 2013 4:24 pm
Always thought they should play the fa cup semis at the millennium. Probably Never going to happen though because of the astronomical amount it cost to build the new wembley, they need to play every possible game there to justify the place and foot the running costs. How many champions league finals have they played at the new wembley, 3 or 4 isn't it?
Mon May 27, 2013 7:21 pm
paltini reckons we will never get the champions league final because he reckons we dont have enough hotels he says the ground is great but thats about it .what is he on not everybody would want to stay in cadiff anyway you got swansea bristol al he small town in bewteen most would fly to birmingham and london anyway he should ask the man utd and liverpool fans about cardiff and all the great pubs around the ground and al the big events they have there he knows feck all
Mon May 27, 2013 7:34 pm
Has he ever been to cardiff? The place is full of hotels

we've held massive events like rugby world cups. Major domestic cup finals. Rugby European cup finals. Massive concerts, olympic football. The list goes on. We could more than handle a champions league final. Hopefully, us holding that super cup final in a years time or whatever it is, will be a step towards us one day getting a major European cup final like the europa at least. I know we are lacking a suitable media center or what not, but I'm sure we could throw one of them up in know time
Mon May 27, 2013 8:14 pm
i just assumed that reason for no mill stad is because wales isnt exactly known for its football, or prowess in europe? especially seeing as swansea and cardiff represent england...
mill stad is brilliant though, they should definitely lobby for more football there....
or make it the venue for the south wales derby

yeah there was 'some' criticism because of the traffic but they are always going to have that because Cardiff isn't a landlocked city so all the traffic can only go one way unlike London.
I love both to be honest but if you do your homework beforehand then you will know how to have a great time for a Wembley day out. Anyone who was in the Marylebourne area before the Wembley games all had a great time Im sure
Mon May 27, 2013 8:57 pm
Be nice if the national team were playing all their home games at a packed out millstad!! We got some good individuals with one superstar playing for wales. A passionate full house at the millstad could turn out to be the key ingredient for them individuals to turn into a unit good enough to get us to a finals.. Just like average irish teams thrive off their passionate fans to reach the odd finals

Like I said 5 hours getting to Wembley and 5 back. What's the difference?
Mon May 27, 2013 11:22 pm
I didnt hear anyone complaining bout Wembley, certainly didnt make it into the media. But I agree and everyone I spoke to who'd been to Cardiff and Wembley for a final says, that Cardiff is by far better than Wembley.
Tue May 28, 2013 1:26 am
Well there's no question that Cardiff is a lot better than Wembley, but Wembley Stadium is the home of football and it's where finals should be.

What Platini meant is that there's not enough 5 star hotels to fit him and all his mates in! Can't stand that man. A perfect example of how being a good footballer does not give you the right to get anywhere near an admin job in football. He's ruining European football.

It did make the media,i took the thread from an article in a sunday supplement. Also during the game itself the commentator said that a few players were also surprised by the location of the stadium. In other words they thought it was a shithole as well.

Wembley isn't a good experience - I went there for some Olympic football last year and didn't even like the stadium that much. I guess all very big stadiums are lacking in atmosphere a little bit. There is nothing around the Wembley area and the crowds are a nightmare coming and going from the ground, however we did find a curry house which looked like someone's living room after the match where it was 2 pints and a curry for a tenner! In London!
