Edinburgh Marathon.

Sun May 26, 2013 7:19 pm

After witnessing another marathon in Edinburgh I must admit I'm seeing the same thing every year.

For instance what do you see when you watch a marathon?

Triumph, Personal physical and mental endurance and toughness, outstanding fundraising ?

I see all of the above.

But i also see thousands of people throwing up on bus stops, walkways roads and other people's gardens.
Thousands of empty water bottles discarded along with other rubbish across a city centre and beyond.
Major disruptions and delays on public roads affecting people's work, time, money&Jobs and of course the sharp rise of demand for our already stretched emergency services.

But that's just my opinion....

I've run 18 marathons & the feeling you get when you see the finish line is unbeatable, love it.The last 6 miles are a killer & pushes the body through a pain barrier but it would'nt be a challenge otherwise. As for your last paragrapth i would say that applies more to a football match.
