MALKY CLOSING IN ON DEALS

Sun May 26, 2013 9:24 am

I am told that Cardiff City are closing in on wrapping several deals up, Malky, Iain Moody and the recruitment team have been working flat out to get players in.

There has been plenty of speculation surrounding players linked with us but one player I can say is definitely a target of ours is Bafe Gomis, talks are progressing well but as we would imagine we do have competition for his signature.

Could see a new face or two at CCS this week :ayatollah:

Agree on anton ferdinand, don't want him anywhere near our club. Not good enough at all.

I think we can be fairly sure that Leon Barnett is one of the players on his way here

On,y problem with Gomis would be his wages, I'd imagine he'd be on £40k+, but for a quality player you have to expect to spend :ayatollah:

Re: MALKY CLOSING IN ON DEALS

Sun May 26, 2013 1:23 pm

yeah he would cost, but surely he would be worth it. My concern is that if Whitts comes off the boil again, and Kimbo is injured/suspended, wheres our creativity come from? And will they be able to provide the service that Gmois thrives on?
The other player from France i'de like to see come over (not possible yet though..) is Yoann Gourcuff.

Played alongside Gmois, creative, intentive, and fallen off the radar of Arsenal (or so it would seem)

These two alone would keep us up.

But like I said, very doubtful in this being possible

I read the other day from a poster who has connections with Lyon, is Gomis is on around £20,000 a week there.

I'd like to think we could substantially beat that - without going overboard

If we can pay someone like Bellamy(35k) a week who definitely doesn't deserve that much a week, no reason why we can't offer Gomis high wages

A glowing report, true or a jilted fan :ugeek:

Bonjour everyone. So I read, Bafé Gomis is linked to Cardiff City! Cardiff fans, let me do you all a huge favour, save the money and invest in another striker! Bafetimbi Gomis or more commonly know here in the French press as Go Miss... He needs at least 12 attempts on goal to convert one! He has to be the heaviest, slowest striker in League One. Gomis will never score the goals to keep you up! I could have compiled a dvd of his goals in five minutes! I'm forty five and could possibly score more goals in League One than Gomis! He really does have a rabbit's paw or four leaf clover in his pocket... However, on the other hand, I do think it would be worth a laugh to see him come up against Premier League defenders! Gomis is your French equivalent to kenwyne Jones, same build, the difference being is that Jones does not need an average of 12 attempts on goal to find the net!

his stats of 18 goals this season means he must have had 216 chances.

he has 42 goals in 90 starts so that a good return also, he would have needed 504 chances

If true, great news. I also think all this Spurs stuff and so on is agent talk to get higher wages for him.

£60,000 is the most I'd go for a player at this level and thats if they're really worth it.
£40-50,000 is what Gomis should be on at us. Anything more than that and tell him where to go.
Ideally at the lower end.

We'll double your wages and give you a chance to prove yourself in the PL but we aren't no mugs. Hope he comes but he is 27 and time is running out for him to get his chance in the Premier League. Really cant see Spurs after him as he doesn't come across as a Boas player and they're still after Moutinho and Damiao.

Arsenal, possibly because of Wenger but still think they'd at least try for someone like Benzema first. I think if they go for Gomis its going to be late in the summer as a last resort type of thing.
