We struggled in the league? I thought we finished 9th? You said we'd struggle due to being in a cup competition, even though those ten games were all played when we weren't involved in any other cup competitions.

Not personally, but you are generalising comments made about Swansea, so I'm doing the same. Many wrongly predicted those two things over the years, just like many have predicted incorrectly about Swansea.

At the end of the day, were rivals & always hope/predict the worst. That's how it goes.

Yes, but when those are based on things like us being in a cup competition making us struggle based on how Wigan did this season, then I'm going to highlight the holes of that argument.

You only have to look at Newcastle to see the POSSIBLE perils of a Europa League campaign. In my opinion, you will definitely struggle a lot more, but won't be anywhere near relegation.

I can clearly pick holes in an argument about us struggling if we get to the later stages of a competition, due to what we've done this season. Using Wigan, or Birmingham, as an example of what we might do is just wrong.

If we do as poorly this summer as Newcastle did last summer, then fair enough, but I just can't see that happening. We will address our clear problems, and we don't have a tactically inept manager that hasn't been found out yet due to the brilliance of individuals that are only at the club due to the chief scout. We're a completely different club, managed in a much better way, and we've got a stronger team than them. Generally though, European football is a gateway for progression, and can help clubs attract players they otherwise couldn't have, hence us being rumoured to be in for Aubameyang and Lukaku.

Nobody knows what will happen next season, but that doesn't mean you can't debate it, and it's just a line for people with no real basis to their argument to just go "oh we'll see what happens" rather than to justify their opinion with facts.
