Definitely. Tho won't be room for him and Rudy so cheerio Rudy!

Re: Carlton Cole

Wed May 22, 2013 2:56 pm

Better than Rudy so if we did sign Cole we would need to ship Rudy out. Cant see that happening.

Re: Carlton Cole

I still believe Rudy will prove a good signing.

I remember well when Witts was criticised by most.

On a free transfer, Carlton Cole would be a fantastic option to have.

Wouldn't be too surprised if he wants to remain in London, though.

West Ham have confirmed striker Carlton Cole is leaving Upton Park this summer after seven years at the club.

The 29-year-old is out of contract with the Hammers, and manager Sam Allardyce insists he could no longer guarantee the player regular football with Andy Carroll expected to join the club from Liverpool.

Allardyce said: "Carlton's contract has come to an end and we have decided not to renew that contract.

"Carlton's need at his age is to be playing football as often as he can. From our point of view we felt it better that he found pastures new.

"We can only thank him for his outstanding commitment and service to West Ham United over the last seven years."

Meanwhile, Allardyce revealed talks are continuing with midfielder Gary O'Neil over a new deal.

"For Gary, negotiations are ongoing and that will be done between the chairmen and his agent now," Allardyce added.

Definitely. Experienced and can help our other forwards during the course of the year. Ideal presently

Not good enough and will demand big wages. We can bring in a lot better than him.

Demand big wages, he is at West Ham on a average wage.

4-3-3 would be interesting then if we needed to do it. Maynard and Campbell either side of Cole playing off him. Would be an interesting attack force and a nightmare for defenders. Thats if Cole joined us of course.

You call 28k a week an average wage?

Re: Carlton Cole

28k in the Premier League when we payed out 25k to some in the Championship? Earnshaw weren't even that far off Coles.

US of Yay: Carlton Cole set to snub Southampton, Stoke and Hull for MLS

Leeds and QPR were also keen on taking the former West Ham striker to the Championships but he prefers LA Galaxy move -

Earnshaw was on around 12k a week, a huge difference to Cole's 28k. We all have our opinions, but I doubt Cole will want to take a wage cut. Spending 28k a week on a striker who has been very hit and miss in the Premiership would be a huge gamble imo.

Wild why he have to take a pay cut? A lot of our players are probably on 28k or more now that we're a Premier league club. Almost every player will have had a pay rise from promotion.

28k would be a steal for him IMO

28k would be a steal? Can you remember him having one good season in the Premiership? I very much doubt the majority of our players will have their salaries rise to 28k a week or more?

I think Fraizer Campbell is on around 25k a week but he only cost a small fee of just over 600k and his signing was needed at the time to score us the goals to give us the final push to get us up, which he did. That's money well spent. Bellamy I believe is on 30k a week plus bonuses, again money well spent. Not sure about Maynard, I imagine he would be on quite big wages with the 2.75 transfer fee. What other City players are close to the 25k a week wage then?

I don't believe Carlton Cole will be value for money on 28k a week and for some of you to think we can pay over the top wages for players just because they're on a free transfer is worrying. It's the wages that kills clubs financially.

You think your going to get players on less the 27k in the premier league your f*cking nuts or stupid.

No. I always thought the majority of our squad were on anything from around 7k a week to 18k (Hudson's wage I believe?) a week for their basic wage, plus bonuses on top. I don't know Maynard's wage, but I've read Campbell is on around 25k a week and Bellamy is on 30k a week and I thought those two are our biggest wage earners. Out of curiosity, give me a list of players who you think are on as much as Campbell's 25k a week then?

1,456,000 = £28,000 * 52 weeks

3 year contract = 1456000 * 3 = £4,368,000

Sorry mate but we can get 3 years service from Cole on that salary at what people could argue is under his transfer fee.

Hes British so would demand a higher fee. All rumours of his fees when in contract have been around £6m so thats his real going rate. Thats not factoring in wages.

We can get him for less than that and 3 years of service. How anyone can say that is bad business is beyond me.

Even at £35,000 per week its good business. How anyone can say hes not proven in the PL is beyond me. From 08-10 he scored 20 goals in 57 games, plenty from the bench.

He can score with the right service and 10 goals in a season from him could go a long way to keeping us up if others do their bit as well which im sure they will given the team ethos at the club.

Me personally? I think hes worth around £3m but transfer prices are inflated and hes got the British premium so £5-6m would be around his going rate. If we can get him on a 2-3 year deal where his wages fall below that then thats great business and would be happy for him to sign.
