Cardiff manager Malky Mackay has distanced himself from the vacant manager’s position at Everton.
The Toffees need to replace David Moyes, who has left Goodison Park for Manchester United, and have targeted a number of possible candidates.
Roberto Martinez and Alan Stubbs have been linked to the role and talkSPORT told you earlier this month how Mackay had been contacted about succeeding the Scot at Goodison Park.
It’s really just paper talk— Malky Mackay
The 41-year-old has successfully guided the Bluebirds into the Premier League and is regarded as one of the best young bosses operating in the UK.
But, speaking to the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show, Mackay said he’s not thinking about Everton and is only interested in keeping Cardiff in the top-flight next season.
“It’s really just paper talk,” he said. “I’m focussed on what I’m doing at Cardiff. We’ve got a really busy time at the moment in terms of bringing players in, and the next couple of months are crucial for our team in terms of surviving in the Premier League.
“We need to go up there and give ourselves the best chance. For the last three weeks I’ve been out every day looking at different players. I’m just getting on with my job right now.”
