Anyone know any good first time cars?

I know what I got to look for, regarding the condition of the car etc.

Just wondering, does anyone have any good recomendations for a first time car? Any previous cars you have had and never gave you problems that I could have a look at?

Nothing bigger than a 1.4 litre engine, preferably a 1.2 litre engine.

I bought a Seat Ibiza for £600 had it 2 years with no problems then the diff went. Scraped it for £150, thats 2 years trouble free motoring for £450! Seats are attractive to scrappies as the parts fit many cars plus they are reliable, plus they are cheap on the insurance.

An old Ford is always a good bet, not the most stylist but cheap to buy, run and insurance.

Any faults and you can get things from the scrappy, insure 3rd party for a few years until you get some no claim bonus then you can go for full comp with a better car.

Toyota Yaris mate got a 1.4 zinc auto diesel love it, nippy, economical and reliable, i have had loads of cars over a 30yr period the yaris is a pleasure to drive
