Welsh derby anti climax

Sun May 19, 2013 9:47 am

Might get slated for this but since they have wrapped up the 2 sets of fans it's taken the edge off this derby.

The last few games (IMO) have been poor in terms of atmosphere. It has lacked that edge from when we played in the early 90's and late 80's

I was at recent games home and away and in the 90's and they just don't compare.

I think the hype will outweigh the reality!

My excitement lies with playing teams like Chelsea, Manu Liverpool ect

No way will the derby games live up to all the hype Lol already its being built up by pundits and the media, I think they are getting a little bit carried away. I just hope they don't turn out to be one sided affairs, and malky, bellamy etc really gets our players wound up and ready for them

I agree, the pundits seem up for the derbies in a big way but feel they will be disappointed.

Well then it's up to us to make them as loud and atmospheric as possible, as supporters we can make it as hostile and noisy as we want or not as the case may be  :ayatollah:

Most of our fans wouldn't sing if we were 8-0 up at the Bridge let alone against the Jacks. Next season we will have a lot of people only there to see the other team, probably haven't been to a football match before and know f**k all about our club. Atmosphere will be awful if things don't go our way.

Maybe i'm just a cynic but the real fans will be drowned out by the plastic army.

Unfortunately (and it pains me to say it) but you are 100% correct on this one. It is one of the sad things about the 'new' fans that City will attract

Luckily, at least some of us 'seasoned' supporters will be there to point out which team we are when the so-called 'big boys' are not in town  :ayatollah:

Plastic Army! What is that then?
The thousands of fans who have followed us the last 10 years, who have payed their money and are City fans just like you.
Oh! wait a minute they are not like you, because they are not a a old ****!
I hate the way you generalise about thousands of our fans that are just as welcome at the games as you are.
Just remember our old school fans wern't so loyal as proven by our attendances when the football was dire.
And also remember you went to your first game once!

I was at the Vetch in 86 and there were 6,600 there. Atmosphere was dreadful.

Are you denying the fact that Swansea city have a lot of fans of other clubs among their ranks? I know for a fact many many people have jumped aboard the Swansea bandwagon and support United/Liverpool on the side. A quick look on your forum tells it's own story, there's a thread about plastic fans every week.

Yes im definitely denying we have fans of other clubs amongst our capacity. If we play united or liverpool then yes im sure there'll be the odd rogue amongst the home fans but I'll telll you for nothng that will be the case country wide including cardiff.

I am talking about blokes supporting Swansea now who have not given them a thought before May 2011 and Wembley. Where did you pull out all those fans from for that play off game? They support the Swans now but have supported United/Liverpool all their lives before now. Why did your club feel the need to say no away shirts in the home end?? Go on your forum, and see for yourself. Iv'e seen friends of mine who are lifelong United/Liverpool fans switching allegiance.

And I agree same thing will properly happen to us but then again we have a much bigger hardcore than yourselves.
