Will It Be More Important For Us To Keep The Togetherness

Sat May 18, 2013 8:46 am

That has been built up by MM and our Championship winning squad than look to sign virtually a new team for next season.

I only ask the question because looking at the result of the MediaWales online survey because the majority of people who completed this survey(77%) think that only between 4-9 of our current squad are good enough for the Premier League, and the same % believe we only need to sign between 4-6 players.

Even taking the top numbers involved there do we really believe that 9 of our current squad with 6 new additions will be enough to compete in a Premier League season. 15 players leaves us 10 short of the 25 man squad which will need to be named by the end of August.

So having just witnessed a season where the togetherness and will to succeed within our squad was 2nd to non that I have known in my 48 years watching the bluebirds where do we get the other 10 players for our playing squad.

I believe that very togetherness MM has developed within the squad will be invaluable and that's why I think MM has got things absolutely right to keep the vast majority of last seasons squad. We all know he will add to the squad and 4-6 players is probably a good number and given the PL monies now available I trust MM to add a new level of quality to the squad.

Once the new signings are introduced to our current squad I'm really looking forward to next season but more than anything I'm looking forward to watching the players who got us to the PL getting the chance to express themselves in the PL.

I think we should have just a little more faith in MM and that wonderful squad who have got us to the PL, surely they deserve more respect from us than thinking only a maximum of 9 will make a contribution. Better than taking a chance on developing togetherness in what could become a virtually new team.

Surely.

swansea players such as Leon britton and Gary monk plus norwich players such as Russell Martin and grant holt seemed like average championship players but they've all coped. its simple really....NO ONE knows who can make the step up, could be some surprises

Someone pointed out to me, and I really hadn't thought about it until then, we are coming up along with two teams that finished well behind us.

I reality all we need to do to stay up next year, is to keep it like that and also climb above one other team.

We aren't going to compete with the big clubs for a good few seasons at best, but finishing above three teams is our target, and one I think we'll be up to.

Can't see Malky rushing in spending zillions and trying too compete with the Manchester and top London clubs quite yet. let's go for the Stokes, Norwich, and Southampton's of the division.

Looking forward to the battle, every point we gain will be like winning the FA cup in my eyes, so happy just to have the chance finally. :ayatollah:

Good OP and I agree. My oinion is that I think we'll have trouble keeping the likes of Kimbo who is a big star in the making.I think Malky will bring in 4-5 players that are actually better than we have now so I think some of the players who were nailed on for a starting position this season will have to make do as a squad player next season.

Agee with the original post :ayatollah:

As for the fans uniting? Just watch the stands 'uniting' the first time one of our players puts the ball in the back of the opposition net! Yeeeeeesssssssssssssssssss!! ;) :ayatollah: :notworthy: :malky:

Gary, Yes its great to stick together and our team did to get out of the Championship, but now we def need to add some real quality to our squad, Malky loves battlers, but battlers alone wont keep us up, but I believe Malky will deliver the right ingredients and add a number of quality Premier League players. :ayatollah: :malky: :malky: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I think Malky will have to change the tactics from what he has used this season and last. I believe we will find it difficult to try and sit back and allow teams to try and bring us down, if so it could prove to be our downfall. Of course defence is the most important part of any team, as if we have a strong base to build from then we could be difficult to beat but we will need to be somewhat more adventurous in attack.

As for togetherness I hope to see more unity among our support than was present this season.

I think we will add no more than 5 players to our squad and start the season with the nucleus of the team that ended last season. If am honest I can only see 6~7 players in our squad cutting it in the Prem but I believe most should be given a chance to prove themselves .
My glass is always half empty running up to a new season so forgive my pessimistic outlook.

Norwich seem like a Champion team to be honest, Snodgrass and Howsen also cope and seem like good Championship players, it's teams like Norwich and WBA who were high all season that give me hope...

It's quite bizarre really! I don't think I have ever known a time when our supporters have been behind everything the club stands for, apart of course from the ridiculous re- branding  We have an owner at last who invests a huge amount of his own money, we have a class manager, a hugely professional set up, with an experienced scouting system and now our academy seems back on track. A family friendly club up there with the best in the country. All this and yet, there is something missing? Which is of course are the ridiculous circumstances that have been brought about by the re- brand. Imagine how much easier it would be this season for the team on the pitch and the supporters in the stands if we were all united again behind the blue of Cardiff and the bluebird badge. That togetherness in my opinion would be worth a few extra points this season :ayatollah:
